Medieval Warm Period
"The Medieval Warm Period (MWP) also known as the Medieval Climate Optimum, or Medieval Climatic Anomaly was a time of warm climate in the North Atlantic region lasting from c. 950 to c. 1250.[1] It was likely[2] related to warming elsewhere[3][4][5] while some other regions were colder, such as the tropical Pacific. Average global mean temperatures have been calculated to be similar to early-mid 20th century warming. Possible causes of the Medieval Warm Period include increased solar activity, decreased volcanic activity, and changes to ocean circulation.[6]
The period was followed by a cooler period in the North Atlantic and elsewhere termed the Little Ice Age. Some refer to the event as the Medieval Climatic Anomaly as this term emphasizes that climatic effects other than temperature were important.[7][8]
It is thought that between c. 950 and c. 1100 was the Northern Hemisphere's warmest period since the Roman Warm Period. It was only in the 20th and 21st centuries that the Northern Hemisphere experienced higher temperatures.[citation needed] Climate proxy records show peak warmth occurred at different times for different regions, indicating that the Medieval Warm Period was not a globally uniform event.[9]"

Extinction Rebellion , by moron on Oct 26, 2019 21:12:32 GMT 1, Whats a co founder? is that like a member? and what's your point? My point is that hard or far left have taken over the climate change movement. In order to brainwash people who join to believe their stupid politics is the solution. Meanwhile the people running ER will get rich and get salaries whilst the naive will end up being used by them. Same as the Socialist Workers Party etc did.

taken over? Do you really believe that?
I think something needed to be done to highlight what our future holds for our children's children.
what would you say would work more effectively than these protests?
Yes of course you'll have the odd loon join up to anything like this, but the majority are Mothers and fathers concerned at what is happening... no?

Recycling and not washing every day or not washing clothes everyday or even weekly saves energy.
Lots of the eco activists in the west who preach to others ignore the fact that consumer goods are made in factories in China which negates the efforts being made in UK etc to be more carbon neutral. Cheap clothes etc are made in India Pakistan etc by very poor people including children to be sold at a profit on UK high streets by fat middle men.
I just see a bunch of luvvies flying into join protests in their private jets spouting bolloks about the climate and being massive hypocrits telling people it's really the fact that we far left commie types cannot run things, that's the reason pola bears shit in the woods.

it's good we discuss these things
seems like its working to me?

Extinction Rebellion sails a sinking house down the river Thames
The activist group’s latest action aims to draw attention to the disastrous reality of rising sea levels
Yesterday morning (November 10), Extinction Rebellion activists sailed a sinking suburban house down London’s river Thames, in an effort to draw attention to the reality of rising sea levels.
According to a press release, the action is “yet another attempt” by the group “to send an SOS to the government on climate inaction”, as well as depict the threat humans face from the climate crisis.
“As the ongoing flood disaster in Derbyshire and Yorkshire has so starkly illustrated,” the statement continued, “our homes, businesses, and families are at very real risk. We are watching, in real-time, as people’s lives are destroyed around the world and in the UK.”
The group’s action comes as almost 50 flood warnings have been put in place across England following days of persistent rain. 400 homes have flooded in Doncaster, while one woman was tragically swept to her death by a flooded river in the Derbyshire town of Matlock on Friday.
XR’s traditional brick house could be seen half-submerged as it floated down the Thames near Tower Bridge. Katey Burak and Rob Higgs, who built ‘The Sinking House’, said: “We want to respectfully raise awareness of the severity of the impending human-made disaster. We wanted to make something that people can visually connect to, whilst leaning on the government and the experts to make the changes that need to be made.”
Statistics shared by Extinction Rebellion say that sea levels are expected to rise from one to five metres by 2100. The group asserts that although the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) suggests a rise of less than two metres, past assessments have frequently underestimated the pace of climate change. Ice sheets in Greenland are reportedly melting at a rate not predicted until 2070, with 140,000 tonnes of ice disappearing per second – the equivalent to 200 river Thames.
“The prime minister does not consider widespread flooding across the UK to be a national emergency. Extinction Rebellion disagrees” – XR
“We may be close to passing a tipping point for at least some of the large outlet glaciers draining the West Antarctic Ice Sheet,” Stephan Harrison, head of the climate expert committee, said, “and this would commit us to significant sea level rise whatever we decide in terms of reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions.”
Based on current sea level rise projections, Stratford, Barking, and Dagenham would all be underwater by 2050, as well as large areas of south and west London, East Anglia, Essex, and Kent.
“The prime minister does not consider widespread flooding across the UK to be a national emergency,” XR said. “Extinction Rebellion disagrees. Many people in the UK have had life-changing experiences this week, and there will be many more in low-lying and coastal areas affected by flooding over the coming winter.”
“We stand in solidarity with all of those who have lost their homes and livelihoods and will continue to demand action until the severity of this national and global emergency is realised.”

Extinction Rebellion , by skAcid on Nov 19, 2019 12:50:40 GMT 1, Protect our right to protest
Don’t increase police powers to shut down non-violent protests
The police ban on Extinction Rebellion’s massive climate protests has been ruled unlawful. So now the police are asking for more powers to shut down peaceful protests. If they get their way, it’s not just people fighting for climate action that could be silenced - it’s anyone who chooses to stand up for what they believe in.
Why is this important?
The police are pushing the government to give them new powers to clamp down on peaceful protests. But with politics as volatile as they are right now, it’s never been more important for people to be able to stand up for what they believe in - we can’t afford to let this happen.
Throughout history, peaceful protest has helped change the world for the better. From the Suffragettes, to Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp, to recent Extinction Rebellion protests the UK has a proud history of peaceful demonstrations for the issues we care about. Giving more power to the police to shut down protests is an attack on our democratic right to speak out about decisions that will shape our future.
