Agreed on those white offsets - they are bad (and unfortunately intentional).

Art Basel • Miami, Hong Kong, Paris, by Easy-Z on Dec 7, 2019 3:53:07 GMT 1, So Martin Whatson does free hidden art drops all week. Chased em like hell last year with no luck. Well today he dropped a piece for Hama Woods. Well I was already in south beach after missing the Martin drop earlier. Saw the post. Rented a city bike and off I went. Dug around all the bushes twice and almost gave up.

I saw a multi colored radar on Printfallart ig the other day. I’m assuming they have something to do with it.

Art Basel • Miami, Hong Kong, Paris, by kwatis on Dec 7, 2019 14:46:18 GMT 1, Correct me if I'm wrong, but these aren't screenprints. I believe they are woodblock prints.
The white offsets that people keep discussing are from the inked up wood shapes being printed and not butting right up against the other shapes. Think of it like a puzzle, where each piece's surface is inked up separately and the reassembled. Only the pieces weren't cut by machine, but by hand so they don't seemlessly fit back together.
It's an intrinsic part of the medium. It being a woodblock print is also a reasoning for the price hike (that and it's PACE and Nina).
Since PACE has facilities and masterprinters in all of the different print subcategories (intaglio/etching/engraving, relief/woodblock, collograph, stone/plate lithography, screenprinting, monotype/monoprint) they are able to offer a wider range of techniques to their artists.
I, personally, think that this technique suits Nina's work quite well.

And love seeing the work Tandem has put out over the years. A good friend of mine and colleague while in graduate school is one of the printers that worked with Derrick at Tandem. You'd expect that from PACE as well. Wonder if it was the artists choice so as to look more "collaged" and referencial of her painting style/approach?

Thanks for the info, thats a funky technique and I appreciate the artistry behind it but I can't get past the fact that it looks terrible. It would bug me to no end if I had to look at it everyday.

Art Basel • Miami, Hong Kong, Paris, by Hairbland on Dec 8, 2019 16:31:18 GMT 1, This is brilliant: Speaking to Artnet, the Italian artist explained how he struggled to finish the piece of work for more than a year, before the revelation finally struck. ‘Wherever I was travelling I had this banana on the wall. I couldn’t figure out how to finish it,’ he said. ‘In the end, one day I woke up and I said “the banana is supposed to be a banana”.’ He’s a cool guy, lived in apt above mine in NYC in mid/late 90s. Other cool guy living above me prior in a different building Joey Ramone, saw him in elevator regularly and once he overflowed his bathtub, flooding mine.

Yeah. You should write a book.

Art Miami and Context were fun. Basel was, Basel. Enjoyed seeing a curated collection of Miami’s most basic b*tches line up 30 deep for a selfie with a banana.
Scope was terrible IMO. They let in far too many people at once and it was impossible to walk around. I guess that’s the downside of going on a Saturday rather than my usual Tuesday night.
