(Why) does art matter? If you can't find the answer to this question, you should get out of this situation. It's important to remember that art is the result of many factors, such as the author and their intent, audience and the genre they are portraying, the artistic quality of the illustration, and the time between initial idea and the final form that the artist ultimately produced. Sometimes an artist will do a wonderful job illustrating something in a style that would be considered "too good" to make it into a book or movie, so the idea that you've made something wonderful simply isn't true. That is a sad state of affairs.
If you ever get the sense that this isn't working for you, ask yourself this: "What will I say at the beginning?
A: I do not know why I was inspired to sketch this.
B: It's awesome!
C: I do not think this would look anywhere near as good as it does if my dad weren't sitting next to me.
D: It is definitely not the prettiest, most detailed work
