I called StolenSpace about the recent Pez exhibition and the guy who answered the phone seemed totally disinterested. Someone else I spoke to said they had felt the same too!

Join the party from 2-9pm and celebrate with performances, community crafting, art installations, and participatory workshops. The block party is co-hosted by Dancewave, a community organization that offers dance as a mode of healing and inclusion. Enter Degraw St. at the corner of Degraw and Nevins!

Through the works of artists Nedra Bonds (Kansas City, MO), Autumn Breon (Los Angeles, CA), Summer Brooks (Kansas City,MO), Ebony Brown (Brooklyn, NY), Mona Cliff (Lawrence, KS), Michelle Hartney (Chicago, IL), Yvette Molina (Brooklyn, NY), Michele Pred (Oakland, CA), Lisa Marie Thalhammer (St. Louis, MO), and Soniรฉ Joi Thompson-Ruffin (Kansas City, MO) the message of the Wide Awakes rings clear and we are challenged to imagine a future of radical love.
Complementing this exhibition are two community events on Sunday, October 3rd that are free and open to the public. First, at 11:30 AM a cape and flag-making workshop led by artist Yvette Molina. Materials are provided and children are encouraged to join. We request you bring an item to decorate (i.e. cape, jacket, flag, bandana, piece of fabric). Second, at 1:30 PM we will show off our newly adorned items in a procession to Ilus W. Davis Park where we will hold a small rally in celebration of Wide Awakes Day! These events are organized by 21c Museum Hotel Kansas City together with Michele Pred and Dwight Smith.

Opening on 12th October 2021, Eric Fischl: The Krefeld Project brings together ten historic paintings from the artistโs important series initiated in 2002. Portraying two figures amid elegant interiors of a modernist villa, the works present an affecting narrative of human connection set between fact and fiction.
The project began as a collaboration with the Museum Haus Esters in Krefeld, Germany. Now used as an exhibition space, the house is a former private residence designed by the renowned Bauhaus architect Mies van der Rohe in 1928. For this body of work, Fischl re-furnished the house with iconic objects of art and design, hired two actors, and photographed them over two days as they enacted unscripted scenarios suggested by the artist. With over two thousand photographs, Fischl modified and collaged images in Photoshop, composing the scenes for his paintings. Fusing painting, photography, and collage, the works in this series synthesise the storytelling devices which have been central to Fischlโs artistic language.
The Krefeld Project marks the debut of this body of work in the UK.
