Secret Santa 2019 - chat thread. , by Coach on Nov 17, 2019 20:45:21 GMT 1, Can some people please post some images or tell some stories of secret Santa gifts from previous years? Would love to have some frame of reference! I have several ideas just want to see if I am in the ball park!! ✨☃️✨
Look at the previous years threads. Some members posted up pictures of what they received
Give me a few moments and I’ll post the links to save you having to search for them.

Here are the last three years. Last year was a quite year in terms of entrants and gifts shared. So the two earlier years are probably more representative.
urbanartassociation.com/thread/154716/secret-santa-2018-chat-thread
urbanartassociation.com/thread/148174/secret-santa-2017-chat-thread?page=5
urbanartassociation.com/thread/142096/secret-santa-2016-chat-thread?page=4
The basic rule is that it’s what you can comfortably afford. There are members of vastly different means on here. But a few stickers is most probably not ok, unless it really is all you can afford. And recipients have to understand that us much as those sending a gift.

I got one hand painted super cool huge plate one year, made by an artist I can’t remember the name of, it’s one of a kind unique, I simply love that one, depending on season, I have chocolate, fruits biscuits or even at times Lego on it, and always on my living room side board. And oh one of my Paul Insects.. ehm and stickers one year, the mau mau ones.. For me it’s special to have a paper wrapped something, anything to have the pleasure to open on Christmas. So I think you shouldn’t over think it, just use some nice wrapping paper, and try your best to write with your nicest handwriting 😊

Secret Santa 2019 - chat thread. , by johanna on Nov 18, 2019 11:14:03 GMT 1, Is it ok to join even if I can not afford all to much? Does it have to be signed and numbered prints or is it ok with art related stuff as well? Posters, books etc. or prints from like lokal artist that are not really that big jet? Do people check with the person you are buying for what they like and adjust or do you just take a chance?
I would have to buy something new to give since I do not have a big collection. I am just afraid I will insult someone if it is not good enough. Is there like a price range I should try to keep to?
It just seems like so much fun and I would love to join. I thought about waiting for next year but I do not know how my health will be with the cancer and all and I would just love to have tried it once🤶🏻🎄

Secret Santa 2019 - chat thread. , by mik on Nov 18, 2019 11:19:41 GMT 1, Thanks @coach for keeping this alive and organizing this whole exciting event. I didn't participate last year because the general mood here in the forum didn't look so good, but this season it seems absolutely right to take part! I've read through the years before and hope it again reaches a good level with nice gifts (for everyone)! Those not sending anything should generally be banned from Christmas because they just don't get the whole thing - karma will remember it

Secret Santa 2019 - chat thread. , by tofcountry on Nov 18, 2019 11:21:50 GMT 1, I think that as long as you send a gift it's cool. Coach wrote it down, no minimum or maximum... it depends on what you can afford to offer. The idea doesn't seem to be to increase one's collection on someone's back but sharing with people from the forum... at least that's how I see it. It's like having a secret santa with your friends as long as you feel like the present you're sending would please you if you was receiving it
it's X-mas

Just like any gift it is the thought that counts, doesn't have to be expensive at all. Hopefully I speak for everyone, please do join in!

I thought about waiting for next year but I do not know how my health will be with the cancer and all and I would just love to have tried it once🤶🏻🎄 People send allsorts (not the sweets, but maybe the sweets) and I wouldn't personally stress too much over the "value" of the gift. For many, it's the surprise aspect of the receiving. People are getting free stuff. Unless it's a box of Ebola, Bees or that Dran poo painting, nobody's going to complain. Members have indeed been hugely generous with their gifting. But I think also sometimes the gifts look more generous because some longtime collectors decide to pass on prints that've been sitting in tubes for a while, art that they no longer want on the wall, or stuff they bought in bulk and can no longer flip adequately. Don't stress. An art theme is nice, but not always essential. And sometimes a selection of small and affordable items is a better idea if you don't know the taste of your recipient (as you've got a greater chance of something tickling them than taking a random stab with one item). If that makes sense? A gift of work from a relatively unknown or local artist is an absolutely charming and lovely idea.

Can it be Jay Z stickers from back in the days like 2003 madison square garden show?

Well at least were in the playoffs
