POW Show In FOPP, Bath, by InactiveX on Oct 21, 2006 10:33:06 GMT 1, I read in the Bath Chronicle the other day that POW would be putting on a show in one of the Bath branches of FOPP.
I can find no info on this on the web, and I wish I'd kept the cutting now - I was reading it in the pub.
The article said that the show would start on 30 October. I've just phoned FOPP and the nice lady said it will be downstairs at this branch:

Oh, that tales me back. born in bath and lived most of my life there.
that branch used to be an MVC. before that it was a garden centre (yes, in the middle of town!).
it was also a cheesy nightclub before ('Chemies' - yes, it was that leg warmer period where 'discos' had awful names, and we all looked terrible in acrylic and every other cheap man made fibre on earth). They had under 16 nights there. awful. chicken in a basket. flat coke. and I never got off with anyone, being shy and a bit sad..... ;D

Show hadn't started  They do have a load of grafitti-related books on prominent display, but the cafe downstairs is still full of an exhibition of portrait photography and some weird stuff I didn't look at too closely.
On a more positive note, we took the opportunity to spend the rest of the day in the new Bath spas - highly recommended!!
Had a day off and me and a mate went along. Show hadn't started They do have a load of grafitti-related books on prominent display, but the cafe downstairs is still full of an exhibition of portrait photography and some weird stuff I didn't look at too closely. Forgot to check sorry. Was overwhelmed by a mixture of relief at finally finding the place (ever been to a rabbit warren with two Fopps?) and dismay of the walls being covered with naked pictures of pregnant women... mm, well maybe not dismay...

Basically the walls in the cafe in the basement are covered in lovely framed POW prints but if you want them you have to order via POW. I think they are just there to show you them in the 'flesh'. Most art does look far better when you see it framed and on the wall. Also FOPP get their walls nicely supplied with art. I should also add that there are no Banksy works. None.

Jeeeez, yeah, and at what cost! A mate of mine works for Bath City Council, and when he tells people what he does for a living, they start blaming him for the entire fiasco. All he does is check whether builders are putting up extensions to plan!
I'll keep an eye on FOPP and let you know if/when POW comes to town.
