They usually figure it out once they see the signatures. But without that prob very few would know.

Unfortunately i had to make a decision, having friends or a Banksy... I choose the latter :-D

I think about this with all of my art collection, and when I do I think how solitary this pursuit is.
No one I know gives a monkeys really beyond saying 'is that new' or 'I like that one' occasionally.
If I did have a Banksy, there is at least a fighting chance that someone might recognise it as a Banksy.

I have a soup can and nobony knows that it is a Banksy.

This is a really interesting topic. I just hung up my first Banksy in the house. I was able to get my hands on a one-sided, unfolded Forgive Us Our Trespassing lithograph print. Since its not eligible for a PC COA, it was really quite affordable. Even so, I felt very proud to hang it up in the house. It's in the upstairs office, so no one else has seen it. Last week, my wife and I were having dinner with friends and one of them started talking about Banksy. My wife and I gave each other a look and we both kept our mouths shut about it, knowing what kind of judgment it could bring.

Our other artwork, which includes a Paul Insect, a Chevrier, a couple of Mehdi's and a Pez, is prominently displayed throughout the house. None of which are recognized by anyone, but I notice that the Pez Alter Ego seems to always capture the most attention. People will just stand in front of it and stare.

I've actually thought about this before.

It's fun to see a visitor's skeptical gaze at particular pieces (my simple black and white Blek le Rat and Banksy rats, on the same wall, draw the most confusion - "why do you have rats on your wall?!?"). I also have some colorful KAWs companions and Bearbricks sprinkled about that I'm sure puzzle most folks.

Keep in mind that I like what I like and don't care about others opinions of my 'art'

I have no friends who are in anyway interested in art.
I have a modest collection etc. but my heart breaks when they rave about an IKEA print in another house ~ and not even glance at a wall of Hirst or Harrington.

I solved this problem by erasing all the signatures. In other cases I sign my most important and expensive art myself.

Years ago, I had a friend come over and say “whoa sick banksy, I love that one”. It was eelus neiasbaw.
I said, “well, actually.....the thing is, errr, ....thanks”.

Most people who com over comment on the art on my walls. Few notice the Banksy or the Kaws, most comment on how they like all the art, but that's it. More people spend time looking at my plants and playing with my baby than looking at the art. Good thing too, because it ain't for them. It's for me, my wife, and my daughter.

The guests look around a bit randomly and they all stop in front of the same piece and ask 'Who is the artist who did this?'. And the answer is the Miaz Brothers. And they look from up close and from a little further away and they inquire on what the medium is. No matter if the guest is into art or not, it is the piece that gets all the attention. They don't care much about who did the rest of what's on the walls.
