Back in the day! *, by tomhills1 on Mar 13, 2007 21:21:17 GMT 1, well done lesroy for ressurecting this subject, you seem to have reminded a few people of what they missed. i never had the oppurtunity because i wasn't aware of his prints at the time. i vaguely knew of banksy as a graffiti artist but had no idea there were prints to be had.
just goes to show quite how mad the secondary market has gone and also you can't blame anyone for thinking of selling up now and realising the increase in value.
it poses an interesting question: if you had bought one of the canvasses/pallett editions, that are now well in to 5 figures, would you sell and cash in? or would you maintain you're only interested in the image and monetary value is irrelavent? it's funny how, when that much money is involved it puts a whole other spin on things, for me anyway.

Same here LW. I appreciated the art on the streets and admired the idea behind this graffiti / sm-art. It never crossed my mind to investigate further with the idea of prints. I can honestly say that if I did have signed prints now, I'd be tempted to sell after obtaining unsigned copies. Even back then I probably wouldn't have bought a kids on guns for £525. Now that my eyes have been opened, there are so many decent artists out there at my fingertips that with my unsigned banksys I could complement them with the Failes / Micallefs (assuming he's not banksy) / Conor Harrington's of the world, and stand back at look at what I'd manage to have amassed on my walls.
