I think most everyone would gladly wait a year for a piece of art that they not only enjoy, but that is also worth roughly 10,000% more than they f-ing paid for it.

Of course it is. I know very few people who would not delight in a 10,000% profit in the space of 12 months. I love my artworks but with 2 children and a mortgage, if prices continue to rise as they do I’ll likely sell up to fund a lifestyle I have only ever dreamed of. Banksy on the wall or holiday, decrease in mortgage, university fees covered - it’s an absolute no brainer. I should also add that I had no idea that prices would rise as the have when I initially bought the art.
I have a price in my head that is my trigger point to sell and it is getting ever closer. The Banksy market could crash of course but people have been saying that for near enough 20 years now and it has only ever gone one way. If it did crash, I’d be happy to still have the images on my wall and it would be a story to tell. No regrets.
People are far too quick to judge on here at times.
To those of you who purchased anything via GDP - enjoy the art or enjoy the profits you make. Win/win in my eyes.

What’s everyone else’s thoughts on frame type? I suppose it’s personal

if you are going to sell, think about generational wealth...university fees is not one of those...a mortgage on a house isn't either, unless the house is earning you $...a life style isn't either, unless that lifestyle is earning you $. generational wealth . 🤔.

think about that sentence..life changing money to enjoy life..life changing..for how long? to enjoy your life..with money...for how long?..that's not wealth...

Interesting
I think you're having 2 separate discussion though
I don't think he mentioned wealth at all
I think generational wealth is a worthy discussion though, i wonder what value £ it would be to create it
I have a soup can poster, i am willing to keep it if my future generations will be secure

He said life-changing, not long-term wealth. Life-changing doesn't mean having enormous amounts of money to pass down to future generations. If someone sold a Banksy and was able to pay off their mortgage, or buy a home, or rid themselves of debt, that's life-changing. And I'd respect anyone's choice to do that, if it made them happier than owning a Banksy.
Huge wealth is not everyone's goal. A lot of people would be perfectly happy to be comfortably off.

Banksy™ Thrower Prints Set, Gross Domestic Product™, by chefd on Jul 26, 2020 1:36:16 GMT 1, If you had a Banksy or other piece of art that appreciated hugely, and so the vast majority of its value was "profit", one could look at a number of ways to invest. My preference is property.
Say you had a GDP Thrower and you got a £100k for it, you could get 5 £80k terraces on 25% mortgages in the northwest, bringing in about £300 after all costs/management fees. Not a huge sum and you would have an income tax to pay.
But, if you are a lower rate taxpayer, you would be bringing in £1500 per month* (£1200 after-tax), which could be enough to alleviate a lot of stress in some people's lives by covering mortgage payments. Those funds could also be saved up to purchase the 6th property in 18 months and so on and so forth leading to a very nice income from a decent portfolio in 10 years' time if you continue to re-invest.
So, that £100k could be life-changing for the longterm if approached with patience... and you may even have some capital growth down the line too.
*yes there are voids and maintenance, mortgage fees etc etc to factor in, this is just a basic example.
