Banksy soup cans - framed - SOLD , by Deleted on Mar 4, 2020 15:37:30 GMT 1, Was gifted to me by a friend who bought from pow.
Let’s be honest, no provenance is tight on these. Even a receipt can’t be linked to a specific print..
It’s Trust I guess.. I don’t buy , frame or sell fake shit

Banksy soup cans - framed - SOLD , by purpleandred on Mar 4, 2020 16:00:57 GMT 1, Q: with this edge to edge framing, assuming there has to be a few millimeters of overlap beneath the frame edge, wouldn't this leave an indentation on the poster or print?

Not at all. I have framed and removed many prints like this. It causes no damage at all. If it did we wouldn’t do it.

Back board, print, wooden spacer (sits gently on print edge) frame
Im not a framer but I guess the pressure is to minimal to cause any form of indentation.. I only use a known and respected framer in PFG

Use the right framer is all I can say. I can see how this style could go wrong in unskilled hands

Banksy soup cans - framed - SOLD , by chr1s on Mar 4, 2020 16:25:21 GMT 1, Ok makes sense, then how is it done? curious to know Back board, print, wooden spacer (sits gently on print edge) frame Im not a framer but I guess the pressure is to minimal to cause any form of indentation.. I only use a known and respected framer in PFG I've framed a few pieces like this. The only other thing you should ask your framer to do is put a barrier between the wood spacer and the paper. Sometimes the wood spacer is painted and this is a barrier but not ideal since the paints are usually not archival. I use an archival filmoplast tape that is adhered to the edge of the spacer (that rests on the print). There are acids in wood that can very quickly discolor the paper.
That said, it is beautifully framed.

Going rate is now GBP 700 - 800 max. Considering this has a 200 quid frame, which you never fully get back I would say GBP 850 - 900 would be a very fair price.

I think this one was a bit rough. The one I’m selling is a lovely example..
Dive jedis price point with it being framed seems correct

Good luck with the sale - yours does look great.
And they did.. but I’ve moved on from posters.. that’s how collecting goes. I want less in the collection

Banksy soup cans - framed - SOLD , by inknart on Mar 4, 2020 18:34:30 GMT 1, find it interesting people prefer these over a hand screened and sprayed thrower print from GDP when there are probably tons more of these posters than the croyden prints.

Banksy soup cans - framed - SOLD , by inknart on Mar 4, 2020 19:36:00 GMT 1, find it interesting people prefer these over a hand screened and sprayed thrower print from GDP when there are probably tons more of these posters than the croyden prints. You think that garbage handed out at gdp is sprayed? Yes, I do. Owning them, its evident that the technique referenced on GDP was used on these.
"This is Banksy’s first experiment with a new technique for making prints - spray the stencil onto processing film and expose the result directly onto a silk screen. This avoids photography or computer manipulation and creates a super accurate analogue representation of gestural mark making. In other words - looks pretty dope."
I love them, cheap paper or not and find them incredible to look at up close. Much more so than a printed poster from an edition of probably 20+ thousand compared to something like 500.
Having owned both, have no interest in the soup cans poster compared to these and how special I think they're.
You call them garbage, but at least I can say i have a hand screened print where otherwise i'd be paying 100k plus for the edition ones.
To each there own.
