POW packaging, by influence on Mar 14, 2007 8:55:31 GMT 1, Recently I've made 3 purchases with POW (my very first 3!) which I have not received yet (hopefully soon!), however I have heard that POW does not tape the lids on the tubes... Is this rumor true? If so, I am kind of scared to see what ends up here on my end (in the US). What are all your experiences like with their packaging? Thanks.

POW packaging, by Tyler Durden on Mar 14, 2007 10:08:00 GMT 1, I recently received my first print from POW. It was sent by recorded delivery but neither end was taped up. The print was still in the tube though and it was in good condition so I'm not bothered. If it was travelling across the Atlantic I'm sure they'd part with some tape for good measure though.

POW packaging, by goffy on Mar 14, 2007 10:15:26 GMT 1, I once had a Modern Toss which seemed to have been opened by the postman and was creased when I got it. POW changed it and taped up the replacement. When I bought my 3 Micallef in Feb. one of the tubes had no lid on it but the print was there and in excellent condition. Most other places I have bought from tape up the lids on the tubes.

POW packaging, by azlan on Mar 14, 2007 10:45:00 GMT 1, I heard similar stories about POW's packaging, which sounds too risky for me. I figure a little tape and a little extra effort is all it takes. (See pic of how we mailed out the charity prints...)

POW packaging, by irf2112 on Mar 15, 2007 17:43:36 GMT 1, Is it me or has POWs packaging care dropped a little. By this I mean prints used to be covered in the acid free paper with care (entire print covered neatly). Now they seemed to be bunged together with no regard to where the acid free sheet sits (Not covering the print fully). Also, for some reason prints are taking ages to get out of the tubes... Maybe its just me

POW packaging, by dwight on Mar 20, 2007 2:08:00 GMT 1, I've had terrible luck with shipping altogether. I just got DHL to pay me for a banksy print they destroyed from the UK to US, and on the very same day received a damaged monster print. It never ends for me...fortunately POW takes care of its customers with replacements unlike DHL who seem to try to make it as difficult as possible to collect on damages. What's funny about the monsters print from POW though is that the tube wasn't damaged at all, but rather it looks like someone took it out, then when replacing it in the tube didn't get it all the way in, but put the lid on anyway, smashing one of the edges.... Wish there was a better way to get prints to the US..

That's mighty unfortunate. I've purchased quite a few prints from POW (to Los Angeles), the tubes have always been left unsealed at the ends, but I've had no prints damaged thus far, which I've always thought was quite miraculous. I've been lucky, I guess.
Just wondering: Do you have a postman with a bad attitude? The reason I ask is because I've previously had a bad experience with a particularly nosy postman who would basically open unsealed packages to see what was inside. A few neighbors and I got together, caught him in the act one day, and reported his arse. He got fired, and we got a much nicer, more respectful postman and haven't had any damaged packages ever since. Perhaps your postman is shady like that too?

POW packaging, by Ripper1331 on Mar 20, 2007 5:52:26 GMT 1, My signed Napalm arrived with no lids on either end. Print was fine but I had never seen a print shipped like that.
Other prints I've ordered from them had not had tape on them but the ends stayed on.
Good luck!

POW packaging, by dwight on Mar 21, 2007 3:15:53 GMT 1, No, it's not my postman. I get my mail at a UPS rented box so they sign for my packages letters, usps, etc... They are actually really nice and are particularly careful to not be nosy and to treat packages with care...
I wonder if it wasn't customs or even pow just putting the lid on without seeing the edge was still hanging out a little....

POW packaging, by dwight on Mar 30, 2007 17:54:42 GMT 1, Has anyone heard of Dave Kinsey? I buy his prints here in the US and he does an awesome job with shipping them. I wish I knew how to do the picture function, but I will try to describe how he shipped my most recent print. He takes the print wraps it in paper rolled up and puts it inside a tube. Then he puts foam around each end of the tube. Then he puts that in a tube that is about 2 inches larger. It fits snuggly inside the larger tube. Excellent packaging and I think it also keeps nosy mail people from taking it out just to look..
