Hi all, does anybody recognise this artist, by prawncocktailcrisps on Mar 11, 2020 21:19:28 GMT 1, Hi all,
I came across a poster in a bus stop frame and it is obviously unofficial but I wasn't sure if it is by a recognised artist. I thought maybe D Face at first but it is signed TH and appears to be professionally printed.

Photos of the bus stop in Peckham and the poster itself.
Anybody on here have any idea?
Thanks all,
Charlie

Hi all, does anybody recognise this artist, by sgolby on Mar 11, 2020 22:02:22 GMT 1, lol, this guy is never posting on here again. Nor should he... THIEF!!!!
funny story though, that may or may not be urban legend... A fella I know took one of the old Kaws bus stop pieces back in the day. Had it hanging for years. One day he approached Kaws, and as legend states, Kaws gave him an original in exchange for that piece of history...

To be fair, it was a hypothetical, and I would prefer one of the bus stops to an orogonal. I grew up admiring Kaws and his work in the streets and would never steal one of his or anyone else’s pieces, so yes, i think it should be returned. To be frank i was one of the folks that told the guys wifey he should return the bus stop poster. Same same.

Hi all, does anybody recognise this artist, by sgolby on Mar 11, 2020 23:01:50 GMT 1, The insults thrown around on this thread are a bit much for what seemed to me like a fair enough question for a forum where the shared passion is art
The insults were tongue in cheek. The gentleman’s agreement for those who follow or participated in street art or graffiti is that it gets crossed out, covered up, or stays put. You want work you ask for someone to put their mark in your book. So no, not a fair question and quite frankly a bullshit about face for the op to say he only removed it to photograph it.

I never took the poster, but if I did, maybe my morals would have changed over the 20 odd years and I would return it back to the bus stop.. If the bus stop was still there😉

Hi all, does anybody recognise this artist, by sfnyc on Mar 12, 2020 3:33:00 GMT 1, Don't steal street art, but if you crossed it, tagged over it or ripped it up it would be fine. Listen and do what people tell you to do. Conform to support this non conforming art. Welcome to street art.

Hi all, does anybody recognise this artist, by Coach on Mar 12, 2020 17:47:14 GMT 1, Don't steal street art, but if you crossed it, tagged over it or ripped it up it would be fine. Listen and do what people tell you to do. Conform to support this non conforming art. Welcome to street art. That's a very good point and an interesting conversation that should definitely be expanded on. Most street art is vandalism - spraying, pasting, painting etc... It costs the UK over 1 billion pounds a year to be removed. It can be a crippling cost for small business when some wanna-banksy sprays some clapped out stencils on the side of their coffee shop. I'm going to take this further and say - if someone "steals" street art (illegally done) and it causes no further damage to the wall/property, so be it. And to all you Banksy owners out there that disagree with what I say - every time someone steals or attempts to steal a Banksy piece, it only helps your resell value.
It does strike me that this is an unusual position to take on a forum that has its roots in graffiti and street art. I think that the genre would be so much poorer were it concerned only with legal murals and gallery offerings.

I think that the genre would be so much poorer were it concerned only with legal murals and gallery offerings. Sure - I get what you are saying but pretending that graffiti isn't vandalism is just well.... a ducks a duck at the end of the day. I mean, 99% of people on here would be seriously pissed off if someone tagged up their house or car. (Unless is Banksy ££££££) People are very good at having a blasé attitude about things when they are not the person in charge of having to clean the wall/other surface or pay someone else to do it. People talk about a "movement" but the vast majority of graffiti is absolutes**te.
Thank you for a reasoned response. I don’t deny that it’s vandalism. That’s just another term for it, and I’m comfortable with it. As for houses and cars, how often do we see these painted or tagged? Of course there are some idiots about; but the vast majority of writers don’t tag private houses or cars and I imagine that the majority of street art on houses has been done with the owner’s permission. I don’t agree that the majority of graffiti is poor (though there are certainly candidates for that description!). I expect that you and I simply like different things. I find a graffitied wall to be much more interesting and enjoyable to look at than a bare one, and infinitely more attractive than an advertising board.

I don't tend to say things on the internet that I wouldn't say to someone directly. Too many flame wars on this forum. To be perfectly honest with you, I do not like the majority of graffiti that I see in London. Don't get me wrong, there is some cool stuff out there that I really like but I still see it as vandalism. It's a complex one. And anyway, I'm not one to talk about taste - I like contemporary stuff that a lot of people would think is horrific.
Likewise, I’m told that my taste in art is odd (and that’s by the people who are being polite!)
