Sad face am I.
This is our last weekend in Vault on Tower Street before I head off to another temporary studio space with no tenant rights or long term security.
I am sad and angry and pissed off that this building is going to be demolished.
In a world that has slightly more foresight than our world, this Tower Street campus would be a community asset. It could be anything, from an artists collective to a small business hub. It could even be a school again.
But its fate is to return to rubble and be replaced with rows of gloriously shit housing stock while the Monopoly man dances off into the sunset with his bags of money.

I might be pissed off about the destruction of this place but over the last weeks the Vault Community has really pulled together and made this move, not only possible but also full of joy and humour. And it is this, this mutual aid in crazy turbulent times, that gives me hope for the future.

The Vault is dead! Long live the Vault!

I haven't had much time to work on any of my own art at the moment because I am working on set build stuff for festivals and the like... but a couple of weeks ago I did a day learning how to do photo etching.
This piece is something I have been working on for years and it has been through quite a few interations and changes till I worked out that all I needed to do was turn it into an etching.

Here is a small (but also pretty big) piece I made at Electric Picnic festival last weekend.
We also made a tiny cityscape but I am getting those pictures together at the moment and it might take a while to make sense of them as the place was bonkers

Finally
Tonight is the opening of our new exhibition in our swanky new gallery space.
A while back I convinced the studio board to let me design and print a newspaper so this is dropping tonight along with the new website and a ton of other great stuff.
So yes if you are in Belfast come on down and get yourself a newspaper.

Epic placement Leo - right beside the infamous ‘Elliot’s’ - a long standing fixture in Belfast for outlandish Halloween costumes. Big queues predicted this weekend 😉 (also massive PSNI station just across the road! 😬)

This week I tried to create a screen print to raise some funds for War Child, the charity that works with children effected by conflict, but when it came to the actual printing the piece looked pretty awful.
So I had the brain wave to sell the remaining number of this piece instead.
