I recently ran an open submission where I asked 6 strangers to send me a photo of themselves which I would then turn into a screen-print/painting portrait. I had been working on some self portraits where I rendered myself as a computer headed humanoid and I wanted to extend this work by using other people in other situations.
I asked my 6 strangers to send me photos that weren’t straight on face portraits but rather full body pictures of the person doing something or standing somewhere... it didn’t really matter how mundane... the interesting thing for me was the idea of taking an image and working with it to create a mixture of the mundane and the magical (or in some cases technological).
I warned my 6 strangers that the final portraits might not actually end up looking exactly like them. They might end up having a computer for a head, or wings or both... they might end up standing about in a post apocalyptic wasteland... it really depended on the image they sent and how I reacted to it.
I have pretty much finished these pieces and I will post the final screen prints below.
Now to cut to the chase. For a limited time only I am offering this portrait service out to the humans of the wider world. For the cost of £80 I will take one of your digital photos and turn it into a one of a kind, weird and wonderful screen-print/painting for you to frame in gold, hang above your mantelpiece and cherish forever.
As for the specs of the piece the image itself will be A3 in size... that is 29.7 x 42 cm with the paper border being around 5cm on each side of the piece. The paper itself will be an acid free art paper such as fabriano of bockingford depending on the nature of the print. Fabriano is great to print on but bockingford can hold a lot of paint and take a proper beating.

i have had a bleedin bad back for the last week... so havent been able to do any work which is a bit of an arse as i have a few big commissions coming up and have to move studio this week
but today i shall work work work and take pain killers
