I understand what you’re saying but this forum is only a tiny portion of our lives. I can’t speak for everyone but I’m sure there are many like myself who are making their feelings know and taking action in other ways.

I understand as well comments about the relative silence here on the issue and I’ve not said much about it myself. I prefer to address these issues in my own attitudes, behaviours and the way in which I raise my son. Perhaps I could have been more directly vocal here too I suppose.

The majority that had something to say on subjects like this were hounded out of this forum by the racist minority some time ago. I myself was involved in a discussion a few years ago over the Syrian refugees and Islam. I begged the forum owner to say something, to block the racists out. Neither the owner nor the guardians had the balls to stand up to them or perhaps they agreed with them. Those that did speak up were hounded until they felt they did not want to be associated with a of forum where so many held these views. And those of us that remained, hardly ever participate in any discussions.

Do not feel Will be seen different Or against the norm to be vocal , part of why this has progressed so far with the negative impacts and consequences And lack of progression is because people are afraid , not effected by the events , disillusioned ,Not bothered , embarrassed Or racist to Publicly engage in discussions , just creates awareness and openness By having open discussions but the topic is treated like a dirty hidden secret And until this banksy thread The topic was ignOred ,ignorance is to state we are on an art forum , it has no relevance and therefore does not effect us , unfortunately only when the Public disorder follows That is when these groups of people will engage in this topic

A very fitting statement and a beautiful painting by Banksy in honour of the murder of George Floyd.  I think many regulars on here know how I feel about racism, I find it completely abhorrent and have done since I was old enough to understand injustice and inequality.  Not so long ago on this very forum I called out the racism from one particular member and was told to 'just ignore it and move on' or just block them, a few of the regulars backed me up but the majority remained silent, and that's the problem.  It shouldn't take a statement from Banksy to suddenly see that ignoring racism is as bad as being racist, that's a hell of a lot of responsibility for just one artist!  

I cried tears of joy the day Barack Obama became president of the United States and thought that at last things would change and in many respects they did, but look where we are now!  We can NOT have outright racists running the world be that in the UK, USA or anywhere else on this globe we call home and sadly until that changes not much else will.
