Do you think maybe austerity and general worldwide inequality, coupled with easier access to social media, information and selling platforms has (in some way) contributed to all and sundry trying to make cash on everything they possibly can? Is inequality making us hustle and flip art, sneakers, cereal, etc, more?

The Ikea Virgil Abloh event in Dublin had a lot of these guys there aswell. I wasn't there but heard some were loudly discussing what they could flip the stuff for. There is a lot of it on the local adverts site by sellers who sell over priced Nikes,Yeezys and Supreme stuff.
The only thing that sold out was the Clocks, they still have loads of the mats etc.

I was there day one in NYC when he went to the store and bought hot chocolate for everyone on line on a freezing cold day in December 2012 and handed it out himself to all he people - pre flippers waiting for his 1st solo show doors to open. Other artists should take notice that you don't need a hype gallery & hype social media machine to achieve success. Just simple characters that are wall friendly and people can connect to has won the day in 2019.

so no surprise posters have already appeared on the bay.
after four hours I did get this which is going to look nice framed. Small and nice without all the text of the poster. And my daughters already found a place in her room. And itโs now taken th edge off not getting anything from GDP (take not team Banksy Iโm hurting but healing)

Stik was in a fine mood. Thierry was a bit moody, I reckon on account most come wanting to see Stik.

Completely agree, but once youโre in that queue queuing your fate is sealed. I think there were 350 queuing today. Thatโs a lot of cash for charity lost. A lot of unhappy collectors. The only happy people had to the the flippers (ยฃ3000 on EBay), Iโd like to see you eventually pulls the trigger on that!

It would have not been a lot more effort to have made 300. I get stik is trying to control his market, but they are not prints, just a poster! Not sure I get it, but I imagine half these will be up for sale.

Glad you got something youโre happy with. Four hours will mean nothing in the long run if you got something from an artist you love.
Why people on eBay are paying hundreds for the posters I donโt know. You can get a signed Stik poster from his book for about a third of what people are currently bidding.

Agreed. No one went home empty handed and the reason it took so long was purely that Stik in particular took so long to speak to everyone individually, and sign more than enough books in addition to the official postcards. A member of staff did point out that theyโd (Stik and Noir) suggested no one who had queued and waited should be charged for postcards but likewise the museum needed to recoup the costs of printing so they had to charge. All of 75p! No idea why that wasnโt ramped up a bit for a good cause tbh!
They also helped us to help out a lovely fella in the queue (with an extra postcard) after he had to leave after 3 hours, which was a nice touch. And my lad is still buzzing from having finally met his โfavourite artistโ (although tbf that was Invader last week, very fickle these 9yr olds!)

Terms and conditions were simple - rock up at silly oโclock, chat to some old friends, get a signed poster. Granted itโs not the best Stik image, but the quality is better than youโd expect and a queue is always good fun. Oh well, sh1t image bit but paper was nice and thick. How was the tube?
