Thierry Noir 🇨🇵 Berlin Wall • French Street Arist , by ricardob on Jun 28, 2021 13:04:04 GMT 1, Got my new noir canvas today. Still sitting in the crate at my storage unit waiting to get the office renovation done so it can go up.
Rufio is going to be jealous... 120 by 150, so not small.

For me, without a doubt one of the best works in the exhibition.

Thierry deserves success and this is one of his best. Having been to Phillips I also think this is one of the strongest works there. Good luck to him.

Thierry Noir 🇨🇵 Berlin Wall • French Street Arist , by Street Collector on Jul 13, 2021 10:13:15 GMT 1, Van Gogh was never famous as a painter during his lifetime and constantly struggled with poverty. He sold only one painting while he was alive: The Red Vineyard which went for 400 francs in Belgium seven months before his death. Very suspicious. Not to compare the two of course, but you never know when mass success will hit you - or abandon you. I do think after enough time of watching on this forum and watching art markets it's easy to see when exponential rises in price and interest are suspicious. I would consider tide, Javier calleja, and some of the other avante art/asian hype artists to be suspicious as well.
What about Javier Calleja has nothing to do with this. He is an artist who suddenly appeared with those bulging eyes. Until just over two years ago, it was represented by Yusto Giner, an art gallery in Marbella (Spain) with high average prices of 15,000/ 25,000. Now it has sales of 800.000 euros. Reason? Do you think it is manipulated? And Aboudia? Do you think it is manipulated? I only know that I had the opportunity to buy something from them 2, I was waiting for my work but it could not be. Now I think, I wish it had been. Banksy is manipulated? Doodle is manipulated? Is it normal that Doodle sells more expensive than Haring? Thinking all this, I think Thierry is the least manipulated of all. 🤣

Aboudia’s work is awesome. I only found out about him this year and only managed to get a very small canvas before prices doubled overnight

Thierry Noir 🇨🇵 Berlin Wall • French Street Arist , by Deleted on Jul 13, 2021 16:00:42 GMT 1, I don't really know why, but I continue to find this whole thing fascinating. I know all artists' markets are manipulated to an extent, but I've never seen the process quite as we've seen it on here, out in the open. I've never seen the machine at work.
I'm not questioning the validity of this auction result at all - clearly Noir has many fans - but just genuinely so interested in how this has developed. Last year, the hype started and there was a lot of seeding on here of 'his market's on the move' stuff, from several accounts with quite similar ways of writing. It looked so engineered. And gradually his prices have gone up, with odd discrepancies, where pieces have done brilliantly at auction but sat unwanted on ebay. But interest seemed to build, at least here, and now he's in bigger auction houses.
Maybe this is how it always works, albeit not on this forum, but it's been such an interesting thing to track. It's been like watching a soap opera, with some absolutely dreadful writing but lots of intriguing twists.
(N.B. I have no skin in this game. Noir is not to my taste so I never considered buying when he was cheap, own nothing, and never plan to. Purely interested in the show of it all)

To me, he has manipulated it all himself and done a so so job of it
I reckon He had a lightbulb moment and decided on a new business/ retirement plan.
He mopped up his art that was in galleries being sold cheap, restricted his supply, most importantly He managed to get the juices flowing with this forum.
He spoke of doing lots of expensive shows worldwide, so best to buy his commissions at 7.5k, don't miss out, they'll be much more next year, then they went up to £10k, not sure what they are now.
What he has done well is focus on our greed and FOMO
He restricted supply and created demand. Not bad for a one man show
Good luck to him, will be interesting how it pans out. Hope he does well.
But yes, it's pretty in our faces manipulation

And I am not knowledgable about international markets as it's not really my interest. My point was that this artist has had the oddest market this year. A lot of the current activity still looks highly odd to me, but I've no money at risk and I'm enjoying watching.

Thierry Noir 🇨🇵 Berlin Wall • French Street Arist , by Terry Fuckwitt on Jul 13, 2021 23:27:19 GMT 1, Once there is take up of Thierry Noir from Sotheby's and Christie's at an international level the tit for tat squabbles on here about Thierry Noir's pricing levels are no doubt going to look a little silly. The potential of Thierry Noir on the international market is utterly bonkers.
Any other artists in your repertoire or is it just Thierry Noir?

And you are the master of subtly hyping an artist. Your never ending desperate posts come across like an annoying estate agent or car dealer that will spout any crap to get a sale. If anything all the hyping actually puts people off.

Thierry Noir 🇨🇵 Berlin Wall • French Street Arist , by tab1 on Jul 14, 2021 0:08:09 GMT 1, Stikfan question: The rather major issue that is being overlooked in your razor sharp analysis is that there are genuinely thousands of his canvases in existence. He has made a career of putting affordable art in the hands of the masses. You can’t manufacture exclusivity where there is none. Answer: The real action at the major auction houses will be with the larger originals of which there are barely any. Thierry Noir has inevitably produced a lot less paintings although sadsacks like you continue to spread the good word that there are thousands upon thousands out there. If there are so many out there by all means be my guest, go out and find them chap. Can you prove how many large head paintings exist or are you just making that part up like the rest of your posts ? 30 posts all towards Thierry noir with the exception of 1 post on the banksy market!may have access to the list of canvases out there ?

Thierry Noir 🇨🇵 Berlin Wall • French Street Arist , by Jimini Cricket on Jul 14, 2021 1:58:22 GMT 1, For the past year stikfan has mounted a dogged and determined campaign laced with a subtle blend of sarcasm and derision to undermine and erode Thierry Noir’s market and halt its momentum. A Thierry Noir painting has just sold for £18.9k at the Phillips New Now sale in London. It was the the first sale by the artist of a canvas at a major auction house (see here for the result: www.phillips.com/detail/thierry-noir/UK010321/65). In response stikfan has launched a fresh salvo of posts subtly undermining Thierry Noir. Stikfan however maintains that he is in his own words a “long-time fan of Thierry Noir, both as a man and an artist”. Under interrogation in response to his most recent anti Noir broadsides Stikfan has at last questioned his own motivations behind this crusade and as per stikfan on 13 July 2021 is: “wondering what mine are supposed to be”. So I have taken the step of starting this thread so that stikfan’s motivations in undermining Thierry Noir’s market may be more fully explored.
