Christie's Art Auctions , by bdr79 on Mar 30, 2021 17:37:27 GMT 1, So are all previous hammered bids still standing as current highest bidders?
You'd be fairly pissed off as a buyer....but totally get it.
Good luck to Dzigavertov....I hope you see a little more flow your direction.

Fingers crossed sellerโs like dzigavertov get a better return, and for those of you that tried to bid on the lots, you get to have another go!! Thanks a lot mate. I would have thought they would have contacted the sellers first or made a statement, am even thinking I may withdraw if I can...is it a sign that I should be skint but well endowed......on the art front

Christie's Art Auctions , by robo on Mar 30, 2021 17:42:03 GMT 1, That was a "yay" in jest - an auction getting hacked is shit for everyone. I don't, but I've kinda been around for a while... Hacked is a convenient excuse ... The reason people are saying DDOS attack is because of the error page that the web site generated. The 403 error page that said "too much traffic" was generated by Cloudfront, which is Amazon's DDOS prevention system.

It would have been yesterdays news tomorrow. Results were low on some lots but not that bad and even a few new records. Trends on established artists sales at auction are built up and viewed over years and even decades not from one day to the next. Really surprised that they did not just move on.
That said in fairness to the sellers they have probably done the right thing by them.

Christie's Art Auctions , by Lazarus II on Mar 30, 2021 17:53:32 GMT 1, I was bidding and had no issues. How can you get bid down? I thought the end results were a fair reflection of the market considering how many were for sale. weโll find out in 2 days time.
Can winning buyers now retract their bids should they chose given this clusterfck?

You can't just make up the rules 4(b) Refusal of Bidding: Christie's reserves the right, in our absolute discretion, to reject, revoke or refuse to honour any bid (even those that have been previously accepted) or, whether during or after the sale, to restart or continue the bidding.

No, it's about protecting the sellers, not the market. Look at the member here that bought a print for a few quid because he 'liked' the image and entered it into this auction. It's only right to extend the time to have a fair outcome. It's not always about you ya know๐

It could be a untested use of the CDN network. It may have been available but never tested. It could be untested WAF rules. WAFS if not configured properly can block traffic or possibly worse let malicious traffic through. If it all runs on AWS Iโd expect some level of resilience but that depends on service agreements etc. It depends who manages parts of the infrastructure or it could be a web app in need of a redesign.

Christie's Art Auctions , by Sundowner on Mar 30, 2021 18:53:24 GMT 1, Little to no mention of the higher results on this auction (Stop & Search, Nola, etc). Everyone's focused on the ones that finished below expected and calling foul play. Christies site has not been hacked - I bid on two lots a few mins before the auction ended without an issue using Chrome. The problem is people here seem to think they can snipe a piece by bidding in the last 15 seconds using an out-of-date browser and wonder why their bid doesn't get registered in time.
Let's see where things go in the next 48 hours - just don't leave it too late.

Not the case, with some lots it wasn't possible to bid (ie there was no bid button!) despite there being minutes left
