Christie's Art Auctions , by Deleted on Apr 1, 2021 14:48:11 GMT 1, How much is Banksy value going to be off by?
I am aware they have vested interest being ‘Banksy dealers’ also - so how will they account for unsold lots?

Christie's Art Auctions , by Eton Groover on Apr 1, 2021 14:51:35 GMT 1, I think we have reached peak Banksy on the print front. The price difference between originals and prints is way out of line with other blue chip artists.
When I could get a full set of Damien Hirst virtue prints for less than the price of a less desirable unsigned Banksy, then something is amiss.
Not disputing Banksy's place or anything and I still think there is value in orginals and low edition canvas pieces, but the prints are way over valued for what they are.

Many thanks

or prints look way too expensive compared to originals. Things like the HW for £275k seems v good for the buyer - in comparison to some of the prints

Things like the HW for £275k seems v good for the buyer - in comparison to some of the prints I think that's because of the images. HW is small and looks like a one colour stencil on a £10 canvas (because it is) where the prints have more wall presence.
I'm not taking sides or bigging up either medium, just saying what I see.

Christie's Art Auctions , by JFCC on Apr 1, 2021 15:10:03 GMT 1, As original and secondary collectors continue to realise their amazing profits the buyer in the market has become more discerning with poor quality and oversold items sticking or selling "cheap". The view now is there will always be another 50 item sale coming up. signed prints are £60k+ so its no longer a spur of the moment purchase of a year ago.
Signed CND, u/s GWB, CWSB were all very poor quality and buyers will rightly not pay top £££'s for them as their is good alternative supply. Banksy has moved beyond being just art to art + investment.
In my view, CND and CWSB were just not good enough for their estimates or even for this sale, as was the case with Grin Reaper Ap last month. Even the signed GWB was trimmed by 40mm and so did not do as well as many would have been expected especially after the Gold AP sold through the £1m.
There have been too many u/s sales prints for sale and this has caused market indigestion at the "lower" price points, but there are some good value pieces for those feeling brave. Barcode, CND u/s, Pulp Fiction (both) for example were bargains and longer term will make the owner a great return as well as the joy of ownership of these great pieces.

Christie's Art Auctions , by fusion0001 on Apr 1, 2021 15:14:22 GMT 1, So here are the numbers on banksy-value.com index.
I dont think the overall figure tells the picture, so sharing also the sub-indices:
Overall: -1.33% ---------------------- Signed: +2.76% Unsigned: -13.77% ---------------------- Desired image: +1.42% Less desired image: -6.60%
We are seeing a correction of the unreasonable price increases on the entry-level prints that happened starting from August 2020 when the signed/unsigned ratio went quickly down from around 1.9-2.0x to close to 1.5x-1.6x across all prints and now gradually sliding back to 1.8-1.9x territory over past few two months.

Christie's Art Auctions , by laughn0w on Apr 1, 2021 15:25:31 GMT 1, So that concludes what must be the busiest auction month ever of Banksy works (including christies today which was now technically April with the extension). I counted 161 all in all between forum, tennants, roseberys, sothebys, mallet, christies, tate ward, dannenberg, phillips, bonhams and the international art centre (using the BPV site). The fact that most of the 43 works today held or were close to their value I think is rather impressive with supply this plentiful.

Christie's Art Auctions , by orchid on Apr 1, 2021 15:57:19 GMT 1, What are the excuses on this auction? Was a fair sale and extended too. Condition report? Wrong day? Online only? Slightly overcast sky?

Christie's Art Auctions , by dzigavertov on Apr 1, 2021 16:31:32 GMT 1, My "entry level" u/s made another 5k from Tuesday's "close", so did work out for me....some, including my mates did not move from Tuesday. The price at hammer was pretty ,much in keeping with the price at other sales in the last year....my print was in mint condition, mind.
I am more than happy with what I got back on a 75 quid outlay 16 years ago.
For those who say I had my pants pulled down at 10% seller's fee...I tried negotiating before I signed the contract and again this morning after i complained about the way the sale had been conducted.....each time got a resounding no dice.....this is my only Banksy apart from the soup can poster and the XL Keep Left sticker, both of which I prefer to my print, so I'll be keeping them....while I am not over the moon to give Christie's 10%, personally i don't feel like I have been totally had....anyway, I couldn't give a shit....I got loads more dosh than I had yesterday and Banksy is overrated anyway....I'd take my Bast 'Thug' and 3D 'Europa' over the print I once owned any day!!!!!
In 2005 my late great father questioned why I would buy "that shite", I replied Banksy might be famous one day.....I'll drink to you tonight father
Come across some sound people on here in the few days I have been on...nice one and all the best to you and yours....and if anyone wants to sell us a Banksy..........
