Faile can get away with it because that's how they are but POW prints can't because that's damage which drastically reduces their attraction to the auction houses market.

I remember some news story about it a couple of months back. Nice return on his investment. Should be enough there to pay the loan back !

fag packet calculation; say he got Β£65k after auction fees;
Β£9200 annual allowance in 07/08, so a taxable gain of Β£55,800
first 2k at 10% - Β£200
next 30k at 22% - Β£6600
remaining 24k at 40% - Β£9,600
total capital gains tax - Β£16,500 -
But - thing is though.....if he is earning a salary, that will have used up the lower % rat bands & he will probably have to pay 40% on all of the gain - ie like Β£22k of tax.

dont matter if you sold the day after buying - you gotta pay the man.
You can pay less the longer you have had them for though - 10% less of the gain is taxable if youve owned it for 5 years......up to 40% off if you had it for 10 years.
