Just scrolled through his whole body of work and have to say....he's simply not very good. Average at best. Occasionally hits when he drifts into Basquiat mode, but I suspect the colour and forms are just directly lifted, so feels a bit flat. Not pure enough to be "outsider", and not schooled enough to be relevant in contemporary. This leaves the commercial market, where he seems to fit into that kind of LA "zombie abstraction", without monied dealers and their networks, and taken on its own merits, this work simply doesn't have the depth needed to have any sort of impact beyond a small base already invested in his work. You could pick thousands doing similar work. Cool if you have the $ and you like it. But not something to invest too much energy in. It can't be talked up beyond where it's at. And where it's at, is "average at best". In my humble opinion of course.
