How Much Is Shredded Girl With Balloon Worth Now?, by kfroms on Oct 16, 2021 11:47:10 GMT 1, That said it was also below the low estimate of 2.6m GBP and no where near the upper estimate of 3.5m GBP Everything is relative. Not sure I follow your reasoning on this, but I'm very willing to be educated. From a market position, the Girl With Balloon diptych was bought at £3,042, 500 which is pretty much bang in the middle of the Christie's £2.6-£3.5m estimate.
Estimates are always the hammer price. A final price of just over 3m is a hammer of around 2,3 or so.

No. The estimate is what seller / auction house think it will hammer for. But lets drop this impossible argument.

As you say: everything is relative. In your case you choose to talk the value down by referring to the hammer rather than final price. My original point was that the Christies Girl With Balloon canvas (albeit the diptych) sold for £1m above the previous Girl With Balloon single canvas back in June.
