Heavy Weaponry @ Sotheby’s Day Auction , by Deleted on Oct 16, 2020 8:48:38 GMT 1, Curious to see how much these smaller canvases go for with the originals going for a ton..
Also this and others like paranoid pictures are editions of 25

Heavy Weaponry @ Sotheby’s Day Auction , by Woodey1001 on Oct 16, 2020 9:58:41 GMT 1, I wouldn't buy this on principle. It demonstrates the established and accepted manipulation of the market for multiples.
i.e artists releases edition in 2003. Saying falsly it's a sell out in seconds etc. 4years later sells privately no4 of the edition. At no doubt a big a markup later on as prices progress with wider manipulation from other 'sell out' (not sell out) editions and shows.
It wasn't a sellout edition, it never is. Most are held back. Multiples market is for mugs!
Rant over. Easy pass for me.

Again fake demand, someone playing the market. Easy pass for all the speculation.. it's like a pyramid scheme.

Heavy Weaponry @ Sotheby’s Day Auction , by Graham H on Oct 16, 2020 10:06:45 GMT 1, Crikey.. so much to take in with that.. Have I missed something but isnt this the way nearly all ' multiples' are sold and artists progress their prices over time?
Ive no skin in this game, but is there proof that back in 2003 this was advised as being sold out and that they all werent sold out.. just wondering.. as it seems a strange rant to make specifically on this one piece..
im sure there are many people on here who were around at the time these were released can give chapter and verse on how and when and where these were all sold.. as the knowledge on here never ceases to amaze.. so will watch with interest

You think this edition took over 4years to sell out? 🤔.

If the artist wanted to re do the image in different background, back to front, upside down, different size and any other such way of making more money from this image it is simple for him to do .. which he has done..so not sure why this would make you feel so challenged

How most print houses work early on in the career of a new artist , Creates hype and still working today with vault sales

Maybe to you it’s weak, but must be near and dear to the artist as uses this same imagery as his blind stamp for over the past decade.

Red Banksy tag up the side of these small black and white pieces helps. With the size and the edition this will probably define the starting point of Banksy canvases price-wise.

If this was a Mrs Banksy original, I think we all know how it would be received.

If only she had been around 20 odd years ago painting it or variations on the streets. An odd concept now I grant you.

Agreed.
But I’m sure you 100% understand the point I’m trying to make.
And I’m also fairly sure people agree with my original comment, as this work is utterly underwhelming in every sense a piece of art shouldn’t be.

Small, boring, unimpressive, unartistic and a play on a more successful artists work just about sums up mrs Banksy, et al.
Thing is once an artist such as Banksy, with 25years worth of successful shows and projects behind them has a rare fully authenticated canvas available at a high end reputable auction house demand is high not because somebody particularly wants a painting of an elephant with a bomb attached but because they are buying into the artists ethos and by doing so they become a custodian of a little piece of art history. It's quite likely it will go into a vault and either be passed down through the buyers family or auctioned again at a later date to upgrade/reinvest in other works by the same artist. Sort of like what happens on here with Peckham Rock beermats only on a much larger scale.
