I was sent this white label of the Capoeira Twins Four (4x3) when I used to write for a magazine back in 1999. Released on John Stapleton's Bristol based Blowpop label this 12" has the cat no: BLOW01P. (it was later re-released on FFRR)
Anyway the cover is hand stenciled and if memory serves me right the press release said it was by a Bristol based artist. Unfortunately the press release was on the rear of the reaction sheet which I sent back to Timebomb who mailed it to me.
Can anyone shed any light on this? If I remember rightly this was limited test press mail out only. I looked on the net for other info but found nothing. Any other info would be much appreciated.

I got a white label of it at the time, too - but unfortunately mine was totally plain white. That's a cool image. Lucky chap!

Banksy was in the early days managed by a *** called Steve Earl  . Steve ran the Timebomb DJ agency. Timebomb was in offices above Niche Editions framers on Stokes Croft, Bristol. Banksy and John Stapleton of Blowpop definitely knew each other. Years later I laid out the Capoeira Twins album for Hope Recordings with the work of another graffiti artist called Temper.
PS: Blowpop started life as a bigbeat clubnight. I also designed some of their flyers using the 1960s american hotrod theme.

The cover was indeed sprayed by Banksy (I think he hand stencilled the first 100 copies). The tunes on the white label were '4x3', and on the flip was a tune called 'Truth Will Out'. The Mr.Scruff mix wasn't done for some time after this release, when we signed it to Pete Tong's ffrr label.
I'm really chuffed for Banksy that demand for his work has gone through the roof. I just wish I hadn't have excitedly given all my stencilled copies away to my mates when we first got them...doh!!

Why UK buyers only? I've been selling on eBay for over 5 years (had the shop, power seller status etc) and the only time I had grief and fraud was from overseas buyers. I don't want to take the risk on this item. Sorry to anyone overseas.
