He said no gallery work, then did a museum.... no problem there as they are actually 2 different kinds if institution if you didn't know ?
The film had publishers, so I guess they need some returns... imo Banksy is entitled to make some cash too. Odd public stencil ?? did you bother counting the amount of work that has been put up in the last 12 months ?
If Banksy wants to remain relevant in the world of Graffiti/Underground/Outsider art he is really going to have to come up with something truly original again!
Either that or take up retirement![glow=red,2,300][/glow]
Well he still paints on the street and touches on current issues, although im not sure how a guy that makes a movie, sells coffee table books and has been selling his artwork now for 10 years is supposed to stay underground ?
TBH as soon as a artist makes a website and has a forum dedicated to them, surly thats the point they are no longer underground ?
Either way I still love the work and most importantly the street work he makes. Please inform me if there are many other 'graffiti' artists that bother to touch on social commentary the same way he does ? I mean I find it hard to remember the last time he did a piece just for the sake of of painting a pretty picture on the wall ?

The covering of the Robbo piece thats was a social commentary on the way councils cover up graffitti? The Harold Shipman ones touch on the plight suffered by Serial Killers in so much that are capable of love too. The Jeff Koons security guard dog piece is an attack on the consumerism in art? They are all very pretty pictures, which I like, just not sure what the social commentary on each is actually saying! Please help.
I have nothing against him making bundles of cash, good luck to him, I was just asking has his art become lazy and does he still desreve his place in a historical context or is he still 'truly' relevant to the genre?

tbh dont really care, it still represents him and the ethos that he has stood for since ive been into his work
Do I think Mr Kipling still makes his cakes ? no... do I still enjoy eating them... oh yes, I sure do.
Out of interest can we see the the huge amount of work that you have produced in the same period ?

well for one the love doctor is checking on the state of peace and love, maybe saying that we currently have too much hate in the world ? or can you not see what is on the wall ? The point is, im trying to have a discussion with you but you you just want to be a smart arse and dont bother actually thinking about other peoples opinions... or listen too them

Just seems like another robbo thing if you ask me, kinda petty. History is what it says it is, if you cant leave things in the past maybe you are your own problem ? and maybe you shoud 'out' yourself ?
