Mason Storm 🇬🇧 New Print Release • Who is Mason Storm?, by quinn on Jan 3, 2022 19:08:28 GMT 1, 100’s & 1000’s who can paint to this standard 😂 There are thousands of painters in one single Chinese village who paint oils to at least this standard. It's called Dafen, and is estimated to produce 60% of all the world's oil paintings. Do you think they produced this one?

Nice work! This is slightly different tho no?? A production line of 100 Chinese method taught painters opposed to a taught and trained artist receiving a brief and charged with presenting an interpretation is a world of difference, not comparable really is it?

Mason Storm 🇬🇧 New Print Release • Who is Mason Storm?, by Lroy on Jan 3, 2022 21:15:35 GMT 1, Sorry, but Mason paintings are hundred better than thoses : here it's it is dull, flat, without relief, nor shine, the features are coarse, the colors pale, incomparable, honestly.I did not wanted to talk on this thread as in the other one about the part one... Staying neutral...
But, no Chinese versions please French are good too every painters can be good in reproductions... But Mason, has a touch, really better, incomparable ( for me ) , whatever his method. He is a great painter.. Nothing to see...

Mason Storm 🇬🇧 New Print Release • Who is Mason Storm?, by Fairxat on Jan 3, 2022 21:29:05 GMT 1, How many people are going to hang: frame all three works?
Why is the edition double the size of the initial release? Will the third release be an edition of 1000?
If there is any truth to the artist painting the original for banksy, it will crash the market and prices will return to to 2013 prices ?

they will framed it in three part as the Thrower flowers in GDP;; Simply as that...
( anyway no comparison between the two artists - don't want to debate on this)

From what I can make out, the number of artists was circa 500, in a village of 3000, not the thousands that you referenced earlier

Mason Storm 🇬🇧 New Print Release • Who is Mason Storm?, by Daniel Silk on Jan 4, 2022 0:00:25 GMT 1, When you look back at pretty much all of Banksy’s famous events, shows, exhibitions, it’s been clear all along that he has called in a team of artists with different skills to produces pieces. I don’t remember ever seeing a huge effort being made to list or credit all of those people, but even so, the word has leaked out and many artists over the years have gained popularity.

Is it any different to Hirst, Koons or Gormley (and many more I can think of) using assistants to creat their art. Whilst I don’t know the intricate working practices of those artists, I’d be surprised if they all made all of their artworks, considering their scale. You wouldn’t say, to pick but one, that a huge Koon’s sculpture is not “by” Koons, just because the creation of an actual sculpture was done wholly or partly by an assistant or team. The creating artist is the person who had the idea, and oversaw its creation, is it not? If that is correct, I can’t see that there is any obligation on the artist to credit assistants. As to what happened in relation to this particular artwork (Monkey Parliament) I simply do not know.

I agree, I’m not saying he should be officially credited, but if it becomes known who were involved in the creation of an artwork, I don’t see why they can’t at least be appreciated for their skills and allowed to progress in their own name. Yeah, he is using the connection to Banksy to progress himself, but hey! practicality all artists in this scene have at some time hitched their wagon to the Banksy name to gain publicity.

We dont even know this part is true. To assume it is, is to rely on the word of someone who allegedly has a NDA in place. Which is obviously believing someone who proved they cant be trusted. exactly, all hearsay at this point, Outis shenanigans again, easy to string people along on a belief of money to be made

A NDA in place with a person operating under a false name, originally put in place to avoid arrest? Who continues to have legal problems over the rights of his images, due to hiding his identity? Is it even possible to have a NDA with someone under a false name? Im just sayin.

Mason Storm 🇬🇧 New Print Release • Who is Mason Storm?, by Jules Leotard on Jan 4, 2022 4:11:01 GMT 1, If MS was involved, I guarantee he was falling all over himself at the opportunity to work for Banksy and co. At a minimum, he was working from a set of Banksy sketches that he/they do before executing a large scale piece (i.e. 100% not MS's original idea). MS probably had grandiose plans of being a part of the Banksy tribe and that didn't pan out. He probably feels, when he went down this avenue with his art, that he had Banksy and co. over a barrel as he knew enough about the team to create headaches for everyone and used that to his advantage.
The part that irks me is that he sells his prints at "established" artist prices as opposed to working his way up and just re-hashes all of Banksy's work. If he worked on 'Devolved' and is "re-issuing" it, that's bad enough, but everyone realizes whatever tenuous link he has to Banksy doesn't extend to all of Banksy's other work. He's sort of working his "plausible deniability" from both directions.
Lroy, have you actually seen him (MS) paint, like brush to canvas? I haven't seen a shred of proof that he (MS) does the work himself and on his old website a lot of the work looked like it was simply manipulated on a computer. I would love to watch a video of him actually painting. He posts a lot of videos of himself on Insta. I'd love to see one of him working as opposed to running around like a madman.
Last annoying detail...all uber-productive artists have assistants. When they talk about old masters' paintings, they frequently mention that they can see areas of paintings that students and understudies did. We generally don't know their names because it would have been career-ending to later issue the painting in their own name...
.03 (one cent more than usual)

What if the NDA is with a Limited Company and not an individual artist? Would that change your legal opinion?

Mason Storm 🇬🇧 New Print Release • Who is Mason Storm?, by hnkpnk on Jan 4, 2022 16:43:56 GMT 1, What was the lights on and off about? can someone shed some light 😊 When the Monkey Parliament painting resurfaced in 2019 to be sold at Sotheby's (after being exhibited at Bristol Museum in 2009) there were some changes made. The lights in the ceiling were off, a banana pointed the other way and a few other details. And the name had been changed to Devolved Parliament.
Some believe there are two versions of the painting, but Banksy is known for changing his art over the years so that is nothing I agree with.
I think I was the first to notice the changes.

Who continues to have legal problems over the rights of his images, due to hiding his identity? Is it even possible to have a NDA with someone under a false name? Im just sayin. Again, that comes down to morals, and being good to you word, or just a bullshitter. If he did sign the NDA at all, then by doing this, he shows he is totally untrustworthy. He took the money, he signed the agreement, if he then goes back on that, his word that he worked on MP, is utterly worthless. So why believe he even worked on the piece. The scenario you suggest, is just excuse making, for being a bit of a scammer. You might be right, i wouldnt know. But i dont buy it as an acceptable excuse.
Being as we don’t know the terms of the NDA you are speculating that he has broken it by doing what he is doing, I would suggest he is circumventing it, because pest control would surely have come down on him by now, what would be the point of getting someone to sign one if you didn’t want to enforce it when it was breached?

I haven’t followed the whole debate (so maybe I am wrong about this) but I think there is a lot of assuming going on here (for example regarding the existence of an NDA) that in my opinion adds to the overall confusion thereby allowing people to assume whatever they want to be true.
That being said, I like the image and like the point made above that at least “Banksy-like” art is made accessible through a talented artist. That also being said, I don’t think he should get a pass for misleading some of his buyers that truly believe he did paint Monkey Parliament/Devolved Paliament and wouldn’t otherwise have bought his prints.

Mason Storm 🇬🇧 New Print Release • Who is Mason Storm?, by Rude Copper on Jan 4, 2022 20:40:14 GMT 1, Being as we don’t know the terms of the NDA you are speculating that he has broken it by doing what he is doing, I would suggest he is circumventing it, because pest control would surely have come down on him by now, what would be the point of getting someone to sign one if you didn’t want to enforce it when it was breached? This is all just repetition of the same points now. No we dont, but fair to assume that it being a non disclosure agreement, it involved not disclosing what he was doing. That would mean his word is worthless and he cant be trusted. Maybe pest control didnt enforce it, because the whole sad story was a lie? Twist those points all you like, but thats the nub of the story here.
Sorry I don’t twist points, when you are trying to present yourself as factual, ‘fair to assume’ does not belong in your post, the fact is, if you are not privy to the terms of the agreement, you are unable to offer a factual opinion, therefore you are as guilty as speculation as anyone else, the only difference is I’m not needlessly trashing some one seemingly for the sake of it

Mason Storm 🇬🇧 New Print Release • Who is Mason Storm?, by Daniel Silk on Jan 4, 2022 20:49:56 GMT 1, Mason on the left. Banksy on the right. Clearly just a low quality copy, isn't it? I don't believe for a second he painted the original. I doubt he would be selling prints made up from an image of the original Banksy canvas. The Banksy piece was massive! So obviously gonna have more detail than the much smaller MS canvas that I guess Mason is taking his prints from? Being slightly different image, is that a good or bad thing in peoples opinion?

It looks like it was copied from a low res jpeg. And technique is different. Plus he’s said himself he didn’t paint it, on Instagram, so it’s just not a thing! 😅
