Artist Plate Project 2020, by Tax and Shipping on Nov 17, 2020 20:30:38 GMT 1,
Picked up a set of the Ruschas (buzzing!) & spoke to a framer today. Shared this as a reference photo, and apparently you could recreate it but to do it in a way thatโs reversible / adhesive-free youโd need to embed the back of the plate into the mount board and lay the glass over the plate so it makes contact and would effectively hold it in place. Still not ideal, but Iโm gna give it a go, thought Iโd share in case anyone else is wondering how to frame. Will post pics once sorted.

Definitely could work. The Ed ruscha is soo good, itโs well thought out from the artist the he has used the plate shape to replicate and original work. Haters will say they are just plates. But these are certified small limited editions from the worlds top artists. Great pick up. Congrats

Artist Plate Project 2020, by eyectopus on Nov 17, 2020 23:06:06 GMT 1, Some of these plates are very nice. The best ones I think were the ones that made the plate as part of an artwork rather than just having an existing image printed on the plate. The best of these I think are the Kay Rosen, Sterling Ruby and Vic Muniz.
I purchased the Ruscha one as it is the one that caught my eye first and appears to work well on the plate from the photos.

Yep that baffled me. Christopher Wool is arguably one of the bluest of blue chip artists out there. It must be that his market (those that drop >$70m on a painting) arenโt fussed about plates.
Great opportunity for us minnows.

I grabbed on a Wool on the drop and visited again yesterday to see what else was still there and was gobsmacked to see them still in stock! I imagine any of the bigger artists with slow sales have gone more to homes to display as opposed to on eBay.

I think estate stuff generally has a higher bar to sell. By definition, it's not going to be fresh work! The Haring (which I bought) is a strong image imo, but it does need to be.

My thoughts anyway

Those were the plates where Artware put more strict order limits, which should have been a big hint. Abney and Nara were limited to 1 per person. Ruscha and Johnson 4 per person. All sold out within the first few minutes, if not sooner.
Outside of those, I would maybe mention the Curtiss and Martinez.
