Artist Plate Project 2020, by jimmyjam on Nov 19, 2020 12:58:07 GMT 1, Carmen Herrera is unsold for a reason.
Itโs an earlier work but has a lot of potential. If you are based just on a flip then maybe not for you. Her pieces sell for more than many of these other artist that sold out. I believe her recent show in New York did very well.

Iโm a collector of Carmen and love her and her work but this was a strange image choice for me and doesnโt feel like a Herrera. A classic black and green of red and black angles piece would have been amazing

Artist Plate Project 2020, by jimmyjam on Nov 19, 2020 13:06:14 GMT 1, The Naras are worth 5-10k easily. Maybe even more. Itโs a very limited edition Nara piece. If you got one you won the lottery in art this year. I didnโt manage to get one.
Not surprised at all Nara will be sold or auctioned for extreme prices.
The store told me they had sponsors they need to help out so they did do a pre sale which most were Pre sold the day before. Iโm guessing you will see a lot of galleries and people try and sell them for 7K+ soon.
This charity sale was somewhat bs. They helped out a lot of resellers and galleries with these large limits they could get initially before the public.

Her earlier work isnโt as popular. So for charity why use an unpopular style? Makes no sense

From what I understand, the galleries involved are all blue chip, and the sponsors & associates are super wealthy philanthropists like Agnes Gund & co. so pretty sure theyโre not gna end up flipping their presold plates for a quick buck. Seems fair to give first refusal to those who made it all possible in the first place.

I guess there were plenty of idiots that paid more than $1000 for those unsigned posters. This is more akin to baseball card collecting than it is collecting artwork.

Prints definitely more valuable than plates/random merch. Time will tell but weโve seen plenty of high profile artists do edition plates before and it rarely sustains value because most people donโt want to display plates. I do get that Nara has a lot of stupid collectors with a lot of money but wouldnโt bank on long term growth, sell it while itโs hot

Nara's collectors are not stupid. Nor are they wasting their money. They are collecting art from an artist they view as important.
You and nobokov come off a bit uninformed.

I don't understand people buying unsigned banksys either. All of it is rather nonsensical. Most regular people would probably say that spending thousands on original artwork is also insane. It's all relative.
I don't mind being separate from the fervor that causes people to overspend on merchandise. It's all castles in the sky.

I appreciate that. Isn't it all caused by the possibility that they can resell for alot rather than art?

Agreed. Also ironic that the most famous artist on the list is still available

Do: buy plates.
