As a Man City supporter I have always kept my distance from Old Trafford but even the distain I have for that club on the other side of Manchester couldn't keep me away from going to watch Maradona playing for Barcelona in the early 80s. Unfortunately Barcelona lost.
For anyone who has visited Naples - you could not have avoided the multiple shrines around the city - for them an icon and a god!

i heard Steve Fenwick on the radio this morning talking about how pleased he was that he had kicked Maradona umpteen times to the point where Maradona was taken to the sidelines to be treated. Fenwick was thinking that he had taken care of him and he wont be back on the pitch only for Maradona to come back after over 4 minutes of treatment and exact a bit of revenge. What constitutes a cheat, deliberate handball not awarded by the ref or kicking the living daylights out of someone with or without having a foul awarded against you.
That said, this is raw for me as up in Scotland we are joining Argentina in 3 days of mourning.

I am Welsh and yes there was always banter and I would bring up maradona whilst talking to English mates but that was just because Wales were shit and couldn't get to a world cup.
When he was at Napoli in the 80's, in Wales we had that Saturday TV show that had Italian and Spanish league highlights. I never missed it. Brilliant player RIP
