I know he calls it a painting, but it's more involved than that. It looks like each coin is individually painted, then they are affixed to the white box. Here you go:

Might get the 16 coin one, how well are the coins fixed on? I had a horrible feeling they would crack and fall off like wax. But looking at your photo they look pretty sturdy.

I would bet the glue will be plenty secure. This one is pretty small, you can't go wrong with the 16-coin version, I would think. And he packed it very well, arrived all safe and sound in about 6 yards of bubble wrap.

It does seem an oversight,i think you can buy little hooks with a D-link on them from your local diy and then superglue it to the back.

I brought one of these when I saw the email and I have an idea of how I'm going to display mine when it arrives. I was going to make a wooden box so the cross sits snugly top,bottom and sides. Maybe line the box with red velvet and cut a groove through the wood to slip a piece of glass down over the front.
