Banksy Goldfish, by Mark on Dec 21, 2020 21:27:12 GMT 1, I understand Banksy needing to keep his team happy, but I wonder how against trading standards GDP is acting.
Surely you cannot run operate a retail business that's full of false information and back handed selling?
I suspect GDP have broken quite a few rules under UK trading standards, which are normally pretty tough.

You have obviously never tried to buy a Patek Philippe Sports watch or a Hermes Handbag from their stores.

Banksy Goldfish, by JFCC on Dec 21, 2020 22:19:42 GMT 1, Actually there are no laws broken at all, nor any beaches of trading standards.
GDP, in fact any retailer, can decide who they want to enter in to for a contract of sale with for any of their goods! So who and how they have selected to sell the 15 items to and at what price is at their discretion, even more so if each of the 15 pieces are slightly different or unique.
More importantly its a stunning piece...and I dread to think what it is worth let alone what it cost!!

Banksy Goldfish, by Mark on Dec 21, 2020 22:29:48 GMT 1, I would have thought claiming for over 14 months that an item will be available in the new year (being 2020), that in fact has not, or has only made available privately, is in fact making false claims / advertising. As a UK retailer, they surely have to conform to some strict rules.

I’ll be honest, the way they’ve displayed the GDP MetBall has completely thrown me, I plan to imitate that when my prolonged house move goes through & get the long awaited man cave.

No unfortunately the items displayed on a website are only an invitation, it is not a contract or a right to buy. No laws have been broken and they can chose who they sell items too. A website is viewed merely as advertising in most normal situations.

It crap. No one would buy this if it didn't have a Banksy profit amount tagged to it.

This was my first thought but on a number of them he states (on some in the comments) that he's the owner, including the Met Ball, flower thrower, and the GDP clock. Maybe others, and he could just be completely full of shit, but the implication is that they're his.

After looking into it a bit more, I think he’s purposely using verbiage to make it seem like they are his, but not stating so. For example the Met Ball, “The first day of lockdown I thought I’d post something cool and relaxing to look at”. I got my money on most if not all of the pieces not being his.
