Her husband was an art lecturer and her house is full of his paintings except one canvas she has which she said โand thatโs by Bridget Rileyโ. I was amazed. Itโs not in her signature style but itโs a portrait of the ladyโs husband who was a lecturer of Riley.
Amazing early piece to see. Not sure how much it would be worth. Probably not too much as itโs not the geometric stuff but certainly a conversation piece!

I purchased one of the edition less than a month ago - from a gallery - but had to look hard to find one below ยฃ2500. Prices have risen, particularly with the big Riley exhibition currently running in the UK (Edinburgh now, then London); I paid ยฃ2350 (included insured transit) and believe me that was a decent deal based on other offers from gallery's/dealers. If you think you can pick one of these up right now @ ยฃ1500 I'd advise a buy - only chance might be an uniformed private seller or one with condition issues. Just my opinion but I've been collecting Riley, Hockney etc for 20 years and I'd like to think I've got a fair gauge of the market. Should have bought one of these when they were closer to ยฃ1k (not that long ago) but hindsight is a great thing๐ฉ |

So yes ยฃ3000 is too much, perhaps as a previous poster suggested ยฃ2250 is closer to what would be fair. |

Really excellent - on the face of a lot of the pieces look symplistic - but there's major deep thought in the use of colours, repetition order etc - some really interesting background/working drawings demonstrating this.
Don't think there are any new editions being released but Bridget Riley Services had a number of archived prints for sale in tandem with the exhibition. I picked one up and have to say it was really decent value compared to secondary elsewhere - plus they were really helpful throughout.
One of the best shows I've been to in last few years tbh - enjoy if you go....

I bought several and they only bagged together the thin plastic tubes which arent meant for shipping. They arrived a crumpled mess but I was able to salvage them by cutting the images out. If youโre local, I highly recommend buying them. The paper is very thick and high quality, unlike those Nara posters.
