Paul Insect • The Reflection, Observer , by love on Jan 9, 2021 15:37:21 GMT 1, It‘s just nice that Avant Arte showed the transparency we normally won‘t see. Try to get a Gursky, Richter from source and you know what I’m talking about. Same for Invader, Kaws, Banksy... every gallery does ist but noone talks about it. Some galleries in NY won‘t even sell you shit if they don‘t know you. Besides that, the prints are awesome and the quality of Avant Arte is outstanding.

May put off potential flippers trying to make a fast buck. Nothing worse than losing out and seeing it flipped the next day for 4 x the price before the prints have even dried. Good luck to those trying to get one tomorrow. May the F5 be with you.

I think it makes sense for them. It also doesn’t bother me (but then again, I wouldn’t be buying to flip). Not sure how enforceable it is though or what repercussions would happen if you violated. I’m assuming it’s basically a ban from dealing with you in the future.

Wonder why that the 'Reflection' drop is only 10%. Is there going to be a drop made later or already sold to affiliates or regular collectors? Thats only 10 of the blue and 3 of the red. Glad I'm only going for an Observer and thats 95%

(My view is it's their prerogative and they don't have an obligation to disclose it, but good on them for doing so.)

Surely a right of first refusal should be an agreement signed by both parties at purchase rather than hidden in a 'silent' contract.
What happens in 2 years if you wanted to swap/trade, sell to a friend etc?

How would you/they determine a price ? Has anyone come across this before ?

Not that it bothers me but the blurb talks about law in the Netherlands....

How did it play out with the calleja release ? Similar thing implemented last year on that . Again a very excitable release
That said . The edition looks the dogs !

Big galleries include first right of refusals into their sales contracts. It isn't strange. Quite common for hotter artists actually. The resale price is negotiable. You should see the 20 I had to sign last year. Incroyablé.

First dibs back is almost always the case now, and I've seen contracts that are 2, 3, 5 and lifetime in years. Buy-back is normally listed as a current primary market price and/or combination of secondary market (auction results) price, meaning it's up to the two parties to negotiate on.
