Watch Collectors ⌚ Buy & Sell, by BKBOI on Oct 18, 2021 20:52:13 GMT 1, The hour and minute hand are original. Second is generic so replacing them all. Right move? If you can find the original parts then I think you should replace them. I am not well versed with vintage timepieces but can say that you should find a reputable watchmaker who is known to restore vintage Omega timepieces to do the work. If not you will end up with a Franken watch or do more damage to the piece.
You can always visit watchuseek forum and seek advice over there. I am sure someone from the Omega section can point you to an Omega restoration specialist.

Watch Collectors ⌚ Buy & Sell, by christiangul on Dec 27, 2021 22:53:51 GMT 1, Seems like there are a few aficionados in here so I thought I would try a question to get my options narrowed down. I’m considering treating myself with a nice watch (again) in 2023. I’ve had some nice pieces earlier but I’ve always dreamt about A Lange & Sohne. So the Grand Lange 1 has been on my radar for some time.
However; lately I’ve been eyeing a few Patek models. Never been that fan of the brand because of so few models I like. When I started to browse through they’re catalogue I’ve found two models very interesting: 5146 and 5205.
In regards to price the Patek’s are a bit more than the ALS (around ~10’£). Both brands will hold value the next 10 years, but the Patek would probably appreciate more (?). Are the 5146 and 5205 under appreciated now?
I’m really negative to hype and a bit concerned about the bubble around Patek even though it’s mainly the Aquanaut and Nautilus. It draws a certain clientele in to the brand I’m not interested in getting affiliated with. (Same with Rolex) With ALS there is more passion and affection for the watch it seems. A bit more soul in the brand and the buyer.
Anyone got any good advice here? ALS or Patek?

Watch Collectors ⌚ Buy & Sell, by poofly on Dec 28, 2021 11:32:48 GMT 1, I never really thought much about buying an expensive watch
I have the Braun ceramic in 3 colours and a casio G-Shock
Last year my folks gave me my grandads old collection, who passed away in '68
In there is a Universal Tri Compax Moonphase Gold a Lecoutre Memovox (my grandad was 'merican so got a Lecoutre instead of a Jaeger-Lecoutre) Universal Square thing and a few others that aren't worth much.
Had a lot of fun researching watches and found that of all the Piguets & Pateks the watches I liked were all designed by Gerald Genta in the 70s.
I then found that the Genta company had been sold to Bulgari in 2000 and then they developed the Octo.
Fast forward a few more years and Bulgari won loads of awards with the Octo Finissimo, mostly to do with it being super thin (case of 5.6mm and movement of 2.3mm)
And thats where I'm at now.
Wanting to sell the collection and buy an Octo Finissimo.
Any leads of places to sell the collection would be much appreciated!

You can't go wrong with a blue dial Patek 5205G
ALS are phenomenal watches however I see a lot of them listed and personally I would feel more comfortable at the moment buying a Patek. The prices for ALS are on the rise for sure that is evident.
I would also look into FP Journe and sub 50k Audemars Piguet Royal Oak in steel.

The 5205 has an advantage over the 5146 being 40mm instead of 39. I’ve tried both ALS Lange 1 models and I felt the normal Lange 1 was too small, therefore the Grand. So I’m afraid the 5146 would be too small for me. (Don’t have big wrists, but there is a sweet spot around 40/41 mm for them)
Yes the blue 5205 is a stunner, but I’m leaning more towards the 5205R-010. (Rose gold with black dial) something about rose gold…
Thanks for the input about FPJ. I’ve seen them but too pricey now. The increase on them have been crazy hasn’t it?
Not in to AP. Only AP I could have had on my wrist would be the Jules Audemars Perpetual Calendar. But I’m pretty sure that would be a very hard sell when I’m keen on a change.

Watch Collectors ⌚ Buy & Sell, by christiangul on Dec 28, 2021 21:26:34 GMT 1, I went for the the 5170R-010 over the 5205R-010, which is a beautiful watch in its own right. Was a tough decision with both striking watches, I agree on your comment on the rose gold on black. For me I felt the 5170R-010 was a little more classical for my taste.
That is a very classic style watch! Also in between 5146 and 5205 in size. Nice one.👍🏼 However I’m not the chronograph type. Have had chronograph earlier but I never use it, and the pushers are just “in the way”/annoying.
Anyone know if it’s waitlists for the two models I mentioned these days? Or just nautilus and Aquanaut?

Some people in the general public would think guys are dicks that pay £1000+ on a door mat or pez prints, some people pay over 100k for a car , every one has a different hobby that gives them joy, he may of worked hard to acquire or inheritance, who cares , we are only on earth for a short period in time, they may be materialistic or may be purchased as an investment? People pay 100k+ for prints here, each to their own
