KAWS Restoration/Leave it as it is?!, by roubasss on Feb 6, 2021 21:59:34 GMT 1, Hey guys! Whats your opinion... A bit of colour has been brushed off on my MOCAD print - need to chill myself, is it a huge problem? I found a restoration expert so they could help me with it - but do you think retouch is the way? Or shall I leave as it is? Please someone calm my mind about this lol.

Ruler + Scalpel job. Just trim it down that side.

nah It's good advice. Nobody measures prints. And even if they did and it was a few mils out. Get a life, who cares.
You don't have a damaged print then. Like new 👌

KAWS Restoration/Leave it as it is?!, by Woodey1001 on Feb 6, 2021 23:49:08 GMT 1, It's for this reason prints weren't full bleed traditionally. So what if its full bleed.
You want to keep the full signature obvs, and not lose the image.
No one is gonna measure it.

Anyone buying it will try to knock from 10%-40% off. Or just not buy it at all.
Just trim it. You're lucky it's just that nick on the corner. You can remove that edge to restore it without effecting the signature or image.

I already have it - I was thinking putting a paste around it, so it hides it... Meaning that I put a paste all around the edges so its not visible anymore

KAWS Restoration/Leave it as it is?!, by Woodey1001 on Feb 6, 2021 23:58:51 GMT 1, I would actually start by taking off a strip to remove half the damage, so what 3-5mils or something? Seeing if that's better. If not livable, a bit more.
And anyway you practice the cut then too 🤷

And than sell it on the forum and not tell the buyer.
I have many of them, not such good ones like this is. But the not so good ones are selling sometimes for 2500-3500. So i think it does not make any sense to restore it.
The print is super framed and looks great!!
If it is such a big Problem for you better use a Passepartout and hide the damage )

KAWS Restoration/Leave it as it is?!, by Richy Rich on Feb 7, 2021 0:07:52 GMT 1, Woodey is hands down the best troll on here. First he’s getting everyone riled up claiming that he knows that Banksy Walled Off Sculptures will be getting COA’s in the future. Now he’s advising people to trim the edges off their prints worth £1000’s. Absolute genius. Love it.

Sure not Trim. www.granit.com/de/passe-partout-frame-18x24-cm-white-373480/ Go to your framer, order a frame with Passepartout and you can hide it.

KAWS Restoration/Leave it as it is?!, by Charlie Bronson on Feb 7, 2021 0:41:30 GMT 1, Take it to a restorer. Otherwise you’ll think of the corner every time you look at it. Been there and done that. It’s like having a beautiful car with a big scratch on it. See what a professional, highly recommended paper restorer can do. Shouldn’t cost more than $500, although the paint match may take some time which equates to more money.
Out of curiosity, how did that happen? Feel free not to answer if it’s a touchy subject.

If you take it to a reputable paper restorer there’s no way they’d make it worse. They’ll assess the damage and if they have any doubt about improving it, they’ll refuse to do it. I just had a corner of a Kaws print repaired. The corner is white and the damage was minimal, so no paint match was necessary, just some light burring. Cost me $200. It’s key to find a reputable paper restorer. If they can’t improve it they won’t take on the job.
