Should you re register your banksy, by Dive Jedi on Feb 14, 2021 13:13:16 GMT 1, If you buy a banksy print, should you get it put in your name? The PC COA is not in your name. I don't think it's necessary to register the print to your name at Pest Control. Couldn't hurt though....
PC COA is most important.

As for why is this even a question. The question mark should answer that.

Should you re register your banksy, by LJCal on Feb 14, 2021 13:29:44 GMT 1, It’s more hassle than it’s worth IMO, used to be a fairly quick process but now days takes forever and costs money so I don’t bother.

If you’re planning to keep it for a long time, why wouldn’t you want your property officially registered in your name? The fact it takes 2 months or 12 months is largely irrelevant.

The question mark should answer that. I would apply for a PC COA then. That's the most solid COA. Shouldn't be a problem with a POW COA and coming from Laz....
Even if you are not planning to sell now, If ever you would need to sell, it can take a long before you would receive one. So best to have one in hand in case of emergency.

Should you re register your banksy, by sandinista on Feb 14, 2021 13:38:26 GMT 1, Ive seen split opinions before hence the question. Im looking for reasons rather than a yes or no. I am looking at if i were to sell it, does it matter if its in my name or not? And does the original coa suffice or do you need a pc cert?

Should you re register your banksy, by dedlok on Feb 14, 2021 14:31:43 GMT 1, I would follow the advice on the Pest Control website under Keeping it Real
"If you have already purchased a Banksy artwork with a COA via the secondary market we recommend you register yourself as the new owner. This helps verify your transaction, prevents other people from pretending it's theirs and helps filter out fakes."
Welcome to our ‘Keeping It Real’ service
How it Works...
If you've agreed to purchase a Banksy artwork - but before you pay - you can submit the details to us below and we'll check against the database to make sure it’s legit. This is a serious process that will engage and protect both buyer and seller.

Should you re register your banksy, by Lazarus II on Feb 14, 2021 18:35:00 GMT 1, Ive seen split opinions before hence the question. Im looking for reasons rather than a yes or no. I am looking at if i were to sell it, does it matter if its in my name or not? And does the original coa suffice or do you need a pc cert? RE split opinions you mention above what would be the downside to registering a print in your own name apart from the £24 charge it incurs nowadays?
It took me over 5 years to register prints in my own name but i recall a thread in here discussing the merits of registering in your own name and i registered them; this was when it was free to do so. I registered one last year and paid the £24 fee and it took a few mths, i retained the existing COA.

Should you re register your banksy, by Lazarus II on Feb 15, 2021 18:41:07 GMT 1, I guess the downside might be that PC see you selling your prints and penalise you in future releases not that you would know. PC would likely know if you sold a print anyhow whether it was registered in your name or not. I would think, but cld be wrong, that if you did sell that there is a high likelihood that the buyer would want to register it in their name. That being the case the buyer would kick off the registration process and part of that would be that PC would contact the seller to confirm that they sold it to the buyer and unless you as the seller blanked the request from PC then they would confirm you were the owner and you had now sold it. or summit along these lines !

Should you re register your banksy, by sandinista on Feb 15, 2021 18:51:40 GMT 1, Added to that they ask how much you paid for it. if i paid £100k for silver flags does that make it genuine? same as me paying £5 for a GWB at boot sale does that make it fake? ill put £99k so when i sell for £100k the taxman knows i onlly made £1k

Should you re register your banksy, by frezza on Feb 15, 2021 18:58:04 GMT 1, I’ve wondered for a while about how secure the whole PC registration system is as its quite a tasty list of addresses and info etc.to get your hands on at this point. Mine are registered with them as it was so much easier to do then but I do wonder how and where the database is stored and also who has access.
