yeah, he's really horrible in this movie.
Even when he's not there, he's there. A terror ! The pressure, the fear, (the version with Mitchum was already distressing and heavy), but the rape scene there, or when he turns around the house, the dog, the dhildren, and his animal imprecations and bablutings, when he sinks, we say to ourselves, no he will never die!
De Niro, wow! Even Nicholson in The Shining isn't that scary.
A real bad guy, very bad guy! Fear and evil embodied. De Niro wow (Goodfellas, Casino etc) !
