Kaws what party (signed edition) book, by Smokeidaeye on Feb 27, 2021 23:35:03 GMT 1, Do you think you need tickets to visit the shop? If you’re local enough it might be worth taking a look sooner. (And I’ll take a black What Party toy please! ) I went to the members preview yesterday. It was a total shit show. I had the earliest time slot (11am) The resellers ran straight to the gift shop(thats on the 5th floor, at the end of the exhibit, so yes, you have to have a ticket to get into the Kaws giftshop) It was announced before entry that if you went in the gift shop, you could not return into the show, so the resellers obviously had no interest in the actual art. I walked through the show, took photos, soaked it all in and got to the gift shop line around 11:35. They were limiting how many people could be in the shop at a time, so I was in line for at least 45 minutes before I even got in the shop. I was in the early batch of people, by the time I was at the front of the line, the gift shop line wait must have been 2 hours +. There was no social distancing, it was pretty poorly planned. By the time I got in the shop, most of the vinyl toys had been sold(I was able to grab a couple, one blush companion from 2016 and the what party chum from 2020) They had some of last years charity prints on display, but they weren't going to be available till this morning and they only had twenty of each(Garfield and Snoopy) for 1200.00 each. Ridiculous that they were available for the general public opening today, but none for museum members. Oh well. If you're going to the show and aren't in the first batch of people, be prepared to wait a long time in line for the gift shop. For some reason, my membership got me a 20% off discount for everything I bought, its supposed to just be 10, so not sure if that was a preview perk or what, but it was appreciated. Hope this long ass post helps someone. They are selling 20 Snoopy and 20 Garfield charity prints? How is that possible if there were each an edition of 25 plus 5 APs?

Hope this long ass post helps someone. flatcolor Thank you for the info. Can you please kindly let me know what you thought about the actual show? Any photos? Sure, figured no one really wanted my opinion on the show.
I thought the show was great, a very thorough retrospective of all his works. Some of my highlight moments, were the sketches from his early graffiti days. To see his progression from the blackbook sketches and walls, to the billboard graffiti, then to the bus stop ads, then the Kimpsons and the Kurfs and so on, made sense. I like that the commercial work was in the timeline as well, would have preferred even more of the commercial work personally, but the show overall was well rounded. I liked the wing to the left when you walked in best.
The show felt a little disjointed being in two wings. The second wing (on the right of the entrance) featuring newer works and sculptures and then "Exiting through the gift shop" Favorite part of the second wing was the paint by number sketches with the color pallets juxtaposed with the finished paintings.
Overall I'd say that it was a strong show.
It was off-putting to be let in and have people literally running through the exhibit to get to the gift shop first. They day I was there, it honestly felt like a super spreader event. The line to the gift shop was poorly managed, no one enforcing any type of spacing, etc.
I know its the middle of a pandemic, and they pushed back the launch date, but the early vibes were that this gift shop area was thrown together haphazardly. I don't mean to focus on the shop, but in the end, after seeing the work, if you did want something from the show, to be expected to wait in line possibly for hours is a bit much, in my opinion.
I took a few pics, nothing better than any of the pro shots that are out there. No one wants to see me posing in front of soome Kaws paintings, but here ya go!. ha ha
Anyway, hope that helps. Cheers!

Kaws what party (signed edition) book, by sufsean on Mar 2, 2021 14:16:05 GMT 1, Two things:
1) if anyone has/gets a print---please pm me
2) if anyone is looking for a signed What Party BOOK (sorry for typo before)---I'm looking to trade one for a Pink Kaws figure (or a black bff). Figure could be opened already, etc....that's fine. Looking for one for display, so not crazy picky.
Thanks,

Shitty move. They obviously over sold their inventory. Shame didn’t notify sooner - could’ve purchased from Brooklyn museum
