Ive bought more than one of these - I love them.
I just know they ain’t going to flip. Luckily for me, unlike 99% of this forum, I don’t get my knickers in a twist about potential value

I wish I could casually drop $3000 on a print and not worry about potential value.

I bought the last Hirst open edition for £300 under cost recently, so 25% below release price. I don’t think these will be so different.

How many Hirst Cherry Blossom Prints did you buy?, by shinkaiser on Mar 4, 2021 1:15:57 GMT 1, I wish I could casually drop $3000 on a print and not worry about potential value. 3k ain’t a casual purchase by any means lol, i just found it poignant that the bulk of the negative comments come from ppl not buying cause they don’t have the 3k available 2 spend rn.... those same ppl then bad mouth the image, hirst as a person/artist, the way heni is aggressively advertising them, etc. etc. just purely nitpicking n tire kicking with empty pockets.... it’s gross, n it happens all the time, n i dislike it is all 🤷🏻♂️
Or maybe they're making informed and better decisions than you are...?
I like the images, Heni's advertising has been shameful and I couldn't give a toss about Hirst's character. I could definitely find more exclusive, better looking art that is guaranteed to appreciate at the same cost of these though. I personally see these as a bad buy, but if you're happy with your purchase, good for you.

How many Hirst Cherry Blossom Prints did you buy?, by anodyne13 on Mar 4, 2021 1:22:59 GMT 1, Just as a casual observer, I believe the primary reason to do an open edition is to exhaust the immediate "flip" profit on the secondary market by design. I'm probably stating the obvious, but the point is to match as close as possible the demand for the print with the supply of the print at the given price point. Demand can increase over time, but the open edition is specifically designed so a print doesn't "flip" and most all the profit realized on the supply/demand curve at that point in time goes to the original seller.

I could definitely find more exclusive, better looking art that is guaranteed to appreciate at the same cost of these though. I personally see these as a bad buy, but if you're happy with your purchase, good for you. informed decision vs haven’t got the funds r both worlds apart.... there’s ppl on here that purchases 2+ of these, that’s outta my price range rn, so even if this drop was the bees knees, the 3k ain’t gonna magically appear in ur bank account, therefore, those ppl tend 2 speculate n hate.... now as far as “informed decision” goes, we’re all working with the exact same info about the edition, image, duration of times release, price, signature, etc. so the only 2 things that matter r first, ur budget, 2nd if u like the image/artist or not.... that’s it, 1&2, also 2 doesn’t count if 1 isn’t there.... So you're saying people are hating on these because they can't afford them. lol! Your argument is invalid purely for the fact that:
1) I have the funds
2) I like the imagery
Yet, I'm not purchasing one and I'm still coming with my 'negative opinions' that you clearly hate. You seem to think that anyone who could afford these would be jumping at the opportunity....and if they're not....well that must be because they hate the artist. Oh, and I already have a piece by Hirst I must add...
As for an informed decision...there's also the fact that ones money is probably better spent elsewhere.
But, like I said - if you like what you've bought, hold your head up high, stand by your choice and be proud. No need to defend yourself, who cares what the 'haters' say. Seems like you're getting all prissy and defensive... attacking people who aren't making the same choice as you....maybe deep down you feel you're not making the right choice with this art?

But these are totally different story. These images are much stronger, and they are signed. I don’t think you will be getting these 25% below cost but happy to be proved wrong.

Yes, anyone who has buyers remorse I’ll gladly pay 25% under retail for #4, #8 or maybe even #3. Preferably #4

How many Hirst Cherry Blossom Prints did you buy?, by Adam The Collector on Mar 7, 2021 7:37:12 GMT 1, Buyers remorse anyone? I am guessing those that are down playing the value have missed out but I’m happy to buy full sets at cost.
Why didn’t you just buy a whole set... or by the sounds of it another or a third?

Demand can increase over time, but the open edition is specifically designed so a print doesn't "flip" and most all the profit realized on the supply/demand curve at that point in time goes to the original seller. No Shit Sherlock. Galleries / artist want as much £ as possible. But usually a dangerous game - If it was as simple as you state then all established artist would do this all the time. They don’t as they want to create scarcity, pump prices and create a buzz / collectability. This open / timed stuff tends to happen with novel pieces that artist arent staking a career on or when they are past the point of caring about £ (hirst could print shit at this point and find a buyer)
so hirst is doing this as a) doesn’t think the image will have long term appeal to his collectors so is doing a novelty release like fruitful etc. Just cos he can B) desperate for the cash at expense of his reputation c) doesn’t care anymore about rep d) all of the above
It’s an odd strategy unless he keeps doing this to get his art to the masses (but £3k prob isn’t a mass price so again, muddy reasoning)
