It’s a £30k print. Maybe take it out of the frame and let us know what we are dealing with?

Completely taped down to the board, which was then stuck on the backer. “perfect condition, not examined out of frame”

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by its all about me on Feb 21, 2024 17:22:08 GMT 1, Is this yours? To be honest I think this is a bad time to sell stuff. And Tate Ward is not great as they use only stock photos which is a bad idea, especially when you are paying 30K plus for a print. It puts people off.

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by gripin on Feb 21, 2024 17:29:57 GMT 1, i am irritated anyway. tate ward and artsy has different (stock) photos for the same auction - i doublechecked it. so at the end, you don't know what you get, if your not live inthe auction floor.
no no, it is not mine ;-) see here, mine is hanging at the wall: urbanartassociation.com/thread/69634/latest-art-purchase?page=1624&scrollTo=2262306
i am with you, selling now is not a good idea (unless you urgently need money) - selling over tate even worse, honestly…

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by revert on Feb 21, 2024 17:43:31 GMT 1, 28k hammer is 2019 prices. It says extreme edges can be seen, sounds floated but yes at this level it's not the standard buyers would expect selling a print at that level(without full inspection out of frame). There could be some after sales bids, must be tempting for some, although it may be better it going unsold than creating a new visible marker for SS at say 25+fees(or maybe that's where it should be now for sales to go through?). Eltons Thrower tonight should do well being a charity auction, although it's hard to use charity sales as any sort of market marker. Good thing is, the biggest risk has passed for prints. Could drop a bit more going by indicators but the main correction has happened. If you're holding longer term it's starting to make more sense for buyers, there's always some level of risk. Sellers might think it makes more sense to hold at this point. Better to ignore the period from march 2020 until recent for current values. I wouldnt sell Banksy at auction currently. Expect to get the auctions lower est quote(if it sells), but before committing contact some galleries/dealers and see if there's active buyers for the work and at what level.

I’ve bought from a few auction houses including Tate ward and they always help. The only time they can’t is when it’s framed. Which is, if you read above, exactly the point that is being made. It is framed.
And Tate Ward auctions run through Artsy turn in to games of telephone. I have twice (one Invader, on Dran) been sent pictures that turned out to be stock/of past auctions.
Don't get me wrong, I buy stuff from both Tate and Artsy. But not at this price point with some indications there are things going on inside that frame...

TateWard • Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by Jules Leotard on Feb 21, 2024 22:50:51 GMT 1, This idea that auction houses are art experts and have your best interests in mind as a buyer leads to questions like that. It's up to you to be informed, it's up to them to try and convince you something is valuable. Even if it's not. Auction house 'experts' are often very much like real estate agents. There really isn't all that much behind their 'credentials'.

Nothing brings me greater contentment than watching plenary plebs fumble their Noir bags at Tate Ward chap. I luxuriated in it old sport.
