The GDP site mentioned that he sprayed directly onto the screens.

this reminds me of a story when I toured disney studios and the old artist told me about the days where they used to take the acetates from the animations cells and used them to slide around the floor on. they just had so many and they were "worthless" because they were already used to make the Cartoon sequence. flash forward 50 years and those things were selling for hundreds and 1000's of dollars.
I really love this piece more so then any of the posters I have seen.

Looks pretty similar i recall the site said painted directly on acetates. the acetates are the the film plates. the screens are the mesh fabric stretched onto frame that is then turned into a printing stencil with the help of the acetate. |

A very good chance this piece is a test plate that never actually made it to production. A plate where they were experimenting with different "spray patterns " until they achieved the desired look they were after.

Only (main) difference is those were printed on a inkjet or laser printer or dark room camera. What we have in this example is a hand worked piece by the artist him /them self . Who also thought it through enough to keep its artistic integrity without comprising The set of reproductions made from this piece.
This is like Picasso Signing a napkin That he drew a sketch on for his sunflower piece and then giving the napkin to the employee at the nursery as a thank you for helping him.
