VINYL JUNKIES, by Reader on Apr 2, 2021 20:12:26 GMT 1, I Am Paint, edition of 250 hand painted by Richard Russell and Lee Scratch Perry. This couldn't be bought you had to swap for a piece of art. I was in a fug of new parenthood in 2015, and missed this project completely. Lee is a hero of mine, I have a huge amount of his stuff, but not this.... *heads to discogs* I met him backstage at Womad a few years back, proper life highlight. Legend of a bloke. Worked with him a few times. Put together the Lee "Scratch" Perry and The Orb concerts for an electronic music festival I used to run and then Lee and Mad Professor, two of the best gigs I ever put on.

It must have been great being involved with a label like Platipus. They were a great label, I was never a big collector of records but used to look forward to Platipus releases. There was so much excellent music created by Simon Berry under the different names.

VINYL JUNKIES, by Smokeidaeye on Apr 9, 2021 23:58:43 GMT 1, It's not vinyl but if there are any Jimi Hendrix fans on here, my uncle did two amazing posters for Hendrix shows in Wisconsin back in the 70s and has signed a handful of high quality re-prints for Wolfgang's Vault.
He never got the recognition he deserved back then for his concert poster art so it is nice to see him do this small edition of these two iconic posters:
If you are interested, signed and unsigned versions can be found at:
Jimi Hendrix Experience at the Factory: www.wolfgangs.com/.../jimi.../poster/ZZZ063269.html
Jimi Hendrix Experience at Dane County Memorial Coliseum: www.wolfgangs.com/.../jimi.../poster/ZZZ050270.html

VINYL JUNKIES, by Lroy on Apr 11, 2021 11:53:59 GMT 1, Got the other one ! in fact it was in the cart, but anyway, I still don"t see anything.
Sellers on Discogs ( as everywhere in the world are becoming strange with Europeans, etc.. Or UK... All this because Brexit and vat, so they sell anymore, thank you far rifht people to have voted brexit ( like a boomerang, guys, boom - I know some on here - it will happen to you too ) ... On ebay too, Dhl, governments, galerists, and others are making a lot of moneyand they block countries. Very modern, innit !
The Orb, per example : around 60 euros plus vat possible, for a new release at multiple editions ?!
Anyway, Thank you Dreadware ! All the market has been killed, I mean, exchange and cultural trades or swaps ! You even have to declare gifts, lol..
Discogs seems like a desert, it's sad... Looks like discrimination...

Talking of expensive records, how about this re-issue?- twotone.tmstor.es/?lf=1359e2770c54d2f1084e401ccbc7c55f Yeps great ones ! Best single ever !
I just don't understand ( for Gorillaz, Stormzy, The specials, the Orb, Blur etc etc ).. why are they making ( for RSD too ) so many different version ( singed, bundle, white wynil etc etc .. it's like a catalog for the same issue, all rarest - they said - etc )
We even don't know, which one to choose lol !
and anyway, they are not so collectible and rare at the end...
Too much too sound !
ps That's why I like the L13, Cauty Childish lps, very short editions and cheap too ;-)

VINYL JUNKIES, by Yabadabdo on Apr 11, 2021 13:23:52 GMT 1, As for the different colours etc, it's so they can sell more, if a relatively unknown artist released 1000 black lps, they wouldn't sell any, but if there are only 100 white 100 blue etc, they become more collectable. With bigger artists it helps sell an lp if it's already been repressed within an inch of it's life. For instance if Ihave 2 copies of a Bowie album, I'm not going to by a third black repress. But I probably will if it's a limited edition of 500 white. People do this to either be a completest or an investment, with the exception of it being a better pressing (this doesn't happen very often though).

VINYL JUNKIES, by chichi carter on Apr 11, 2021 14:16:17 GMT 1, I used to own (and buy) a lot more vinyl than I do these days. It just reached a point where it was spreading all over the apartment and I had to get it under control. Just like every other type of collecting, it can be addictive and reach a point where it borders on hoarding. So I distilled it to 'the essential'. It all needs to fit in a specific amount of space which in this case is a closet in my dining room that I turned into a record library. I took the door off it's hinges so it is a 'walk in' library with the records in the recesses on both sides of the opening. If it gets to a point where it starts getting too tight, I let some go. I custom built some stackable boxes to maximise the space, so it is packed from floor to ceiling. There is a bit of everything in there, from classic rock to soundtracks to hip hop to... anything goes really, as long as it moves me. My most recent purchases are a couple of Roisin Murphy 'Sequins' EPs which are essentially the tracks from her first solo album, 'Ruby Blue' (but at a more affordable price point), Django Django's 'Glowing In the Dark' and Supergrass' 'Live On Other Planets' (with all proceeds going to the #saveourvenues campaign in the UK). Earlier I gave David Holmes' 'Let's Get Killed' a spin and listened to Black Star (Mos Def & Talib Kweli) and Mos Def's 'Black On Both Sides' which I hadn't listened to in a while. You could say my taste in music is a bit all over the place, not unlike my taste in the visual arts. As for vinyl gems, rarities and oddities... Here it goes. Supergrass is the only band I own pretty much every original UK release they put out, LP's and 7'' singles. It is the only 'complete' collection I own from a single artist. It was relatively easy to put together, not too much back tracking and hunting, as I've been following them from the get-go and simply snapped them up as they were being released.

Just saw this Ep that I did not know, and this incredible price ! There is a long time that I thought to this...
What does that mean in fact, speaking of sleeves that were not made by Banksy, just pics in fact ( I have had all of them and I have no rancor to have sold them, some were lovely - best where radar rats, 4 monkeys, Queen monkey Years, and Happy choppers - some others a bit " cheap " )... Why to speak again of that ?
When I see this picture, I can tell in myself, that every unknown or rubbish band can be popular because of a Banksy sleeve ! Easy in fact ! Just to press the good picture, on a bit of electro etc ... and it's done ! Bravo ! ( a bit cheating anyway )
( I don't speak about sleeves made by Banksy ). .

Me and a mate used to do a dj night at the teacher training college over the road in 82/83 with just our record collection of the time. There was a shop we used to get US 12' imports from called Cheverton. One of my now closest friends worked there who I didn't know at the time only later!

VINYL JUNKIES, by Lroy on Apr 11, 2021 16:44:00 GMT 1, When I live in London, i known a little ( they were 2 in fact in the same corner - one specialised in Blan T Rex ) the other one ( smaller shop ) in all singles, bootlegs, old ska, rare Bowie, rare press and studio folders photos, etc etc... I swore to never sold my 45 rpm collecition ( and my badges ), but I did. Not all, but...
Just found this one ( nobody wanted it on ebay then ) under my desk...
A bootleg not for sale from 78, even not on Discogs ( no rate lol ?! ) , a " Dj copy ", with the first version of Bing and David TV duo ( Little drummer boy ) and a great Heroes version too... Ok the sleeve is not very high level... I just wanted to share it, because in 78 or 79, it was like a treasure for me

Hey Lroy How are you? Not sure if you remember me, I was formerly known as Delloy before my account deletion.
The record was released back in 1994 so is 27 years old now. You can still buy it on the secondary market and it would be in the range of ยฃ35 - ยฃ50 depending on condition.
There are 2 available here:
www.discogs.com/sell/release/942452?ev=rb
Hope that helps. ๐
