Faile NFT launching tonight 18:30 (EST) / 23:30 (UK time), by anodyne13 on Mar 31, 2021 17:56:43 GMT 1, I think I finally came to the realization that NFTs are really more "collectibles" (trading cards, sneakers, beanie babies, etc) and not art, which made it all make a bit more sense to me.

Faile NFT launching tonight 18:30 (EST) / 23:30 (UK time), by Inknart on Mar 31, 2021 18:09:45 GMT 1, I’m admittedly a huge Faile fan, but I see no problem with this and actually think the animations are cool. That said, I’m not into NFTs and have no interest in buying these. Anyone that’s followed Faile knows that they have been doing digital art for a long time, so those calling them “full of shit” need to look in the mirror. It would have made far more sense to release their arcade style animations from Deluxe Fluxx as NFTs. haha, if they created a whole game based on there art/arcade style animations it would be $4.99 in the App Store on your phone. 1 Gif $5000.

The amount of love and layering they put into their pieces, making them look old, distressed, etc... This style just doesn't fit the aesthetic, looks cheap.

NFT 30 seconds; film of your choice at least 120 minutes. Plus because Easter is upon us I’ll through in a postcard and bargain bucket.
Please form an orderly queue and no queue jumpers welcome 🙏🏾unless it’s for tik tok😂

Faile NFT launching tonight 18:30 (EST) / 23:30 (UK time), by robo on Mar 31, 2021 20:29:11 GMT 1, I like Faile, I like some NFTs, and I quite like some of these pieces. But I’m not buying at these greedy prices. These pieces will sell and crash, like so many other Nifty Gateway NFTs. People forget that there are 15% selling fees on NG, so people buying editions for $2k and selling them for $2.2k are losing over $100, and many releases resell for under the original sales price.

Faile NFT launching tonight 18:30 (EST) / 23:30 (UK time), by robo on Mar 31, 2021 20:32:05 GMT 1, If they included physical prints, like the recent Jon Burgerman release on Nifty which was very nice, that would be a different matter (but they’d still need to fix the pricing. Who pays $5k for a Faile edition!)

Who pays $5k for a Faile edition!) I agree completely, the prices are fcked. I bought a piece from the Burgerman release, not only does it come with a print but I thought he did a great job with it. But i bought that one on the secondary market before the deadline to get the print and paid about half off primary.
$5k for the Faile is totally nuts and nearly all of the releases happening these days can be had for less than the release price the next day.

Faile NFT launching tonight 18:30 (EST) / 23:30 (UK time), by Lord Lucas Roham on Mar 31, 2021 22:10:30 GMT 1, Are these actually getting bought by art lovers or simply cryptoheads who are buying into the hype or looking to flip.
If you're actually a traditional art collector and are purchasing these then how are you displaying them?
Also, how do you rationalise the extra cost that NFTs seem to attract over physical mediums?
Would be interested to hear.

It’s an ideal chance to actually do a pictures on walls and offer things for £45 in runs of 600 with a bunch of upstarts. disappointed in the greed of the established and their recycled art efforts lazily punted at prices their prints may struggle to sell for.

So 600 then?

Faile NFT launching tonight 18:30 (EST) / 23:30 (UK time), by Gentle Mental on Apr 1, 2021 0:15:57 GMT 1, If only these were on paper. Or comes with a physical version as well. Like the kings of Leon album.
NFTs would make great COAs.
Physical Artists would need to up their animation skills to really make the most of this medium.
The only thing nice about these is the fact they were the first from faile.
Pretty disappointed.
Mining fees are nuts.
Baby steps.

I'm not interested in the least in ever buying a jpg or gif but then I'd never buy a plastic toy either, so each to their own.

Faile NFT launching tonight 18:30 (EST) / 23:30 (UK time), by Lord Lucas Roham on Apr 1, 2021 8:01:30 GMT 1, What do people actually do when the buy an NFT?
Do they get excited? Can they think about framing options? Where to hang it? That feeling when you get the tracking number? Standing at the window waiting for the DPD Van? The smell when you open the tube?
It's a bit meh, it's all a bit nothing, it's a completely soulless experience, essentially involving some small numbers on a screen.
I will NEVER buy an NFT.

Probably more like $649k - they needed to buy a scanner and pay a graphics student to “animate” the “works”.

I did try too.
I read a book recently that was supposedly the "idiots" guide to blockchain and crypto currency - 60 pages in and I still don't get it.
It's back on the shelf and can be used in future to flatten out proper prints on real paper - I get those.

Well they also gifted one entire edition of 10 pieces “Daydreamer” to their friends and family (including it looks like their partners) before the edition was released so they should all make lots of extra money off that if the prices go up.
Plus the artists make a % on every resale (which is good of course but a reason they didn’t need it be so greedy with their pricing and friends and family giveaways).

Most it is just boredom and gambling. Some will and have created online galleries in Decentraland and in other game universes. Will people visit these, probably for a while but longer term seems unlikely, maybe you can charge entry but again seems unlikely.
To be fair some of the work is actually pretty cool but no more so than a really nice CGI effect in a movie and most don’t rewatch movies every day because they are pretty and worryingly for NFT there is a lot less supply of pretty movies. Who knows maybe some really good ideas come out of NFTs but this doesn’t mean holders of the pictures and music don’t lose all their money.
The reality is pace of supply will keep on increasing and the previous drops will and are becoming illiquid and fall in price rapidly as everyday there will be a new hot thing. For the large crypto holders who pumped the market, their NFT holdings will be tiny relative to overall crypto and the benefit to further main stream crypto adoption vs writing off NFTs may make sense. You see all this on the Discord chat, they are just trading hype rooms.
New buyers and kids getting caught up will lose, some will lose big and we will see stories similar to the kids on Robinhood. Right now there is a bit of a wealth transfer to artists who have the social following to be in demand. Seems like a good thing to me while it lasts, you may label the artists sell out but hopefully gives them the opportunity to continue their work instead of some bro buying another Lambo. The majority of artists already can’t charge anything as no one has heard of them or cares.
