'Micallef' will bounce back once his prints will be making big profits again...
C'mon he is one of the best artists which are talked about on this forum.
The thing that his prints are not 'flippable' at the moment doesn't make him lesser artist than he was last summer.
But from what I see these days the good artists are the ones whose prints are making lots of bucks on the secondary market. The market which is soo easily manipulated by few individuals. But who cares $$$ speaks more than art itself.

I think the value has a big thing to do with popularity...if values fall...popularity falls and it is a downward spiral. People like to know the print they have is worth ยฃ1k and not ยฃ100. In a lot of cases it is like a trophy for the owner.
The opposite is true...when an artists work goes up people suddenly seem to like it more...and so the spiral continues.
I don't like Micallef's work.....until it's framed - then it looks stunning.
My GIWTBB is going to be going to Mr Frame Man along with my Morons in a few weeks. I will post some pics once I get it back!

Whilst prices have dropped massively since the LA show these are still great pieces so for those in it for the art now is a good time to buy. Will he enjoy a renaissance of interest in the near future? I don't know.
Micallef might have made some quick money with the LA set but his profile has suffered due to flooding the market with a huge quantity of prints in a short space of time (IMO they are very contrived images and not a patch on his earlier works).
