I say white as its more in keeping with setting, clouds (will be located high up on large staircase), but wife says black makes the helicopter pop more.  Walls are a very pale magnolia. She will probably get her own way but what are your thoughts?

She will probably get her own way but what are your thoughts? The top of that frame needs to come down some inches. I have a similar framed one in white, my only regret is not having it float mounted. I've started to think it looks a bit cheap and thin with the mat, also a tad worried it may get sun bleached and leave a colour change around the edge. |

I think Girl with Ballon and CND work well on black because they have no frame of their own.
Whereas HC and Bomb Hugger, etc, already have a white boarder, so donโt need that extra framing.

I've noticed a lot of love for white frames and discussed a couple of times with my framer. Thought about it a lot last time I was framing things (picking up on Sat - can't wait!). His general view was that 1. it's down to personal taste, 2. also the piece itself and that in general, a black frame often draws the eyes inside as it acts as a focus and almost "hold the image in". On the other hand, a white frame let's the image loose .For me some prints I've seen framed in white lack punch as the colour just seeps out and there's a lack of focus. But again, that's probably personal taste and the white box with float posted in this thread looks very good for example!
Also seen people mention that more are using big what I'd call "regal" gold or brass style frames for contemporary art at the moment. Framer also noted that over the last year more people have been choosing coloured framed. We guessed that that might be due to the bleakness of covid and being stuck indoors and wanting colour and to be excited etc.
