Art Car Boot Fair, by .dappy on Jun 18, 2011 10:28:02 GMT 1, Each year (except last year) I go and I normally get there a little early, an hour or so, before official opening and just bring my ipod and newspaper. As I said in a previous email go to enjoy the day! It really is a car boot sale with trestle tables. If your expectations are not high, then you will enjoy!
There are some gems there - go visit marty with his jeweled paintings and Swifty with his modern typesets and jessica albarn with her bees, owls and butterflies. Bump into Pure Evil.
Take your time, visit the stalls and then go back again later. Get up close to some really good stuff and talk to the artists.
I always went and found the PB stand first, and all of his prints are still all with me. Its affordable PB for me! I think this year I will try and find Polly M first and queue. I don't think I will get into the bun-fight that will be Turps.
Don't just visit the 'big' names and go - you will be in and out in less than 1/2 an hour. or maybe that is want you want to do.

Weโve noted all the internet chatter over queue-ing etc and are doing everything we can to make its as fair as we can without changing our basic policy of one queue to get in and then its up to everyone to find the art and artists they are interested in. Itโs a fun and good natured event and thereโs plenty to do and lots of amazing art if you miss out on your first choice! The only entrance is on Buxton Street youโll need a 2011 Art Car Boot Fair stamp on your hand to show that you have come through the front desk. Any members of the public trying to enter the car park before mid-day will be asked to leave. Flippers are not welcome. Art Lovers are.

I have to admit I'm not convinced the Hirst is a good deal. The actual image must be only about A4.
