AVANT ARTE JAVIER EDITION- Ed of 70, by Jimini Cricket on May 28, 2021 14:53:01 GMT 1, Hi Guys Dont trust this guy!!!!! Only pre-orders of sets have been confirmed/guaranteed, this person has not been "allocated a pre-sale". So this is totally BS. Nobody got a pre order allocated and don't know which image yet. As people might know we are doing vetting calls (more than 300) of people we don't know yet, to see if we can allocate a certain % (probably around the 5) for these people, the other 95% will go to our loyal collectors, collectors from the gallery or the artist. These 5% are going to make available for people who we selected after the vetting the calls, and they will get a link and it is first come first served. So it don't mean that after you got through the vetting call you 100% get a print, yes you have a better change but that's it. So this person maybe have done a vetting call but no way he/she got a print ready to sell. Again we hate to be so elitist with doing pre orders, vetting calls etc. We would like to sell to everyone but this shows again that there is not other option with releases like this............ Don't buy from this guy, just email ivy@avantarte.com ava@avantarte.com or amelia@avantarte.com to get in touch, as said we like to also sell to new people and start new relationships with people that wanna collect our editions. This way of selling art is not our preferences but we should take care of getting the work of artist into the houses of people who really love it and don't just see it as a way to make a quick buck All the best, Christian This has to be the funniest thing I’ve ever read. Looks like Christian is trying to damage control because he hasn’t been transparent with how pre-orders or the VIP list works. Let me paint you all a little window. Their VIP/pre-sale list is tiered, for this edition they offered immediate pre-sale to those who are part of their top 1% or those who are close with Javier and his associated gallery. Most of these pre-sale offers were for a full print set. A step down is where me and a ton of other collectors stand. We were contacted and asked to share which prints we would prefer having, once confirmed were told that we would receive a follow up email with the pre-order for which print they can offer us. Even so there aren’t any guarantee of getting the print we asked for, we might get offered our least favorite. For all other collectors, you had to “register” your interest and go through a ridiculous vetting process, where you basically have to prove that your worthy of buying from AA. I know a ton of people who had the “call” or weren’t lucky enough to get a response. Just speaks to how AA wants to run their elitist business. ALSO, I never once said I have already placed an order yet. I’ll be getting my pre-order in a week or so which a handful of other people. This is why hardly any prints will be released to the general public. (It’s also an invite only drop) I’ve been buying from AA for a while now, so I have no problem sharing who I really am if Christian messages me privately. I personally think the whole release was a mess and unfair to most collectors.
Should have kept the process mysterious for the peasants. You don't have a problem sharing who you are but set up a burner account? Hmmm. Jus sayin' what others are thinking. Jus sayin'. Namaste

No Sarcasm. Apart from a few VIP's paying nearly market prices, the rest go to 'normal' folk at seriously under market value.

AVANT ARTE JAVIER EDITION- Ed of 70, by esfer on May 28, 2021 15:58:22 GMT 1, To me Nara's work has a lot of meaning. Japanese women have always been held back by society there. I partly grew up there and immediately understand Nara's work. I think a lot of women in general and especially in Asia understand his work. The cute asian little girl but has a dark side due to some mystical reason makes more sense to me. There is oppression that is represented in his characters. Again I also think a lot of women get this statement and understand his work. There are ton of really big female celebrities and collectors who love and own Nara paintings. This why his work is sold in Europe, Asia and America for millions. Nara is also extremely well trained and has a ton of talent. Javier's work to me lacks any meaning and is only based on cuteness. Maybe i'm wrong. I hear he's a really nice person and obviously talented but the fact he was Nara's assistant as well, and his work look exactly like his work - boy rather than girl. cat rather than dog... It always will look like a knock off even though well done. I think most major collectors first choice would be Nara. White little boys - typically are looked in society as having all opportunities in the world - so Javier's work doesn't make sense.
I couldn't agree more. Nara was original and interesting by being the original. Calleja isn't a bad artist or anything, and some of his characters are pleasing to look at. It's the stupid nonsense wording and half finished characters made to look like unfinished sketches that really bother me. Disingenuous is a perfect word. Guy is smart though, I have to give him that. Making millions.

I'm sure there are super collectors who buy all Avante releases. I've been offered each Javier edition and have passed on all of them. I would question buyers who literally gobble up every single release, I would find it hard to believe there taste is that vast.

AVANT ARTE JAVIER EDITION- Ed of 70, by Sunny Garcia on May 28, 2021 16:49:41 GMT 1, I've made the point a few times now; prints are quickly becoming unaffordable for most early collectors. Everyone is getting greedy and wants their piece of the pie.
People shit on Shep Fairey, but at least he's kept his prints ridiculously cheap (comparatively), so that anyone can get one!

Yet his prints are priced sky high like a modern master. I don’t think critics like him much. Like Mr doodle - and cartoon kaws - and all the big eyes portrait artists... selling cute to the insta gen is like selling porn to pervs. Especially in Asia.
Let me throw in Jonas wood and hebru and Hirst’s cherry blossoms - artists are going soft - with candy colours and safe as Disney ideas- to make big fat bucks fast. This is McDonald’s McArt. Toys and happy meals for your eyes.

I have to say though... Can you really say these are hand finished, if they’re not hand finished by the artist!? That seems like a stretch to me.

Very well said.
But this is what is selling today, and there’s a substantial growing demand for it. So it makes sense that someone is producing it and feeding it to these people.
The average “VIP Collector” is someone with no artistic knowledge or background, the same type of person who collects designers sneakers and luxury fashion.
Like fashion brands, these companies create a mass appealing product, package it in a fancy way, and convince these clients that they are special VIP’s because they have the chance to buy it and others can’t.
More like VIP’s at Walmart is you ask me...

AVANT ARTE JAVIER EDITION- Ed of 70, by Sunny Garcia on May 29, 2021 14:32:49 GMT 1, are we buying a print or adopting a child? You could be on to something. When you have a baby and you get those health visitor checks every so often to make sure that you remembered to feed the baby or change its nappy at least once a week. Avant Arte could maybe employ people to do something similar. If you get a knock at the door and the print isn't hanging up, then they take it away boot you out of the VIP club.
😂 🤣
In all seriousness, this is what some people actually think “should” happen.

😂 🤣 In all seriousness, this is what some people actually think “should” happen.
