Pejac Show in Berlin - APNEA, by pada1 on Oct 17, 2021 3:26:03 GMT 1, Crikey i remember the days when Artists used to give away a free print, using the opptunity to create some hype on opening night. Expecting 160k to que up in the hope of winning a lottery i find a little arrogant.. That being said i do like the print!
Arrogant or pragmatic.

Installation of a little boy on church creates awareness of the current refugee crisis #Zufluchtslose #LandlessStranded #PejacBerlinShow
The Spanish contemporary artist PEJAC is taking action by creating a major installation named “Landless Stranded” on top of Berlins’ church the “Heilig Kreuz Kirche” in the middle of Kreuzberg, to raise awareness to the current global refugee crisis.
Clinging on to the huge cross with one hand and holding a smoking flare in the other, a little boy wearing a life jacket is calling for help.
‘‘The best way for me to connect to the world is through art’’, says Pejac. ‘‘This new installation speaks of all the people who, even on land, feel adrift.’’ Opposite the church Pejac installed binoculars enabling viewers to take a closer look at the imperiled kid. Considering the distance to him, that comes in rather handy. However, anyone who cares to contemplate the use of this device may realize that metaphorically too, there is a distance between ‘us’ and those we are unfamiliar with and often fearful of. Between us and the Other. To alleviate any uneasiness felt, it’s worth scanning the QR code on the binoculars which leads straight to the link to donate to the German NGO Sea - Watch, that has saved thousands of people trying to cross the Mediterranean. The installation not only calls attention to the plight of refugees, it is also a preface to Pejac’s long - awaited upcoming show APNEA in a former train manufacturing facility in Berlin (Modersohnstraße 35 - 45, 30th of October – 7th of November). Lottery tickets for the purchase of limited - edition prints will be sold at this exhibition and part of the proceeds from this sale will be donated to Sea - Watch.
For this project, Pejac has joined forces with Sea - Watch, DOJO Cares, the foundation of Berlin based creative agency whose office is inside the church as well as with the Heilig - Kreuz - Kirche, whose charity work in Kreuzberg aimed at helping refugees, the homeless and the poor, is gladly hosting the Installation. “People still die every day in the Mediterranean Sea seeking refuge in Europe and with German elections and the pandemic ruling the news cycle, we try to bring this topic back to international attention.” says DOJO Cares.
According to the United Nations, at the end of 2020, there were 82.4 million people worldwide who were forcibly displaced as a result of violence, persecution or human rights violations. As EU migration policy becomes ever harsher, pushbacks of migrants on land and at sea are becoming increasingly normal, turning the continent into a fortress.

Pejac Show in Berlin - APNEA, by GMA on Oct 20, 2021 17:07:37 GMT 1, I have enjoyed watching Pejac's career and popularity grow over time, I enjoy his work and like the meaning behind them and love the execution. But these days, I have come to terms with the fact I will never be able to hang one of his works on my walls. The price is out of my range, nor can I even enter for a chance to win to then try and scramble to get the money together to purchase. So good luck to everyone who is going for the opening night. No doubt it will be amazing.

Looking forward to the opening however there’s still work to be done! Really looking foward to travelling over to see the show. Can't wait to see the results of all your hard work in the flesh.
I think the only thing I'm a bit glum about is the lack of something affordable to take away with us from it. I'll enter the lotto to buy the print but if I get selected I'll have to seriously consider before I buy. House repairs, car repairs, Xmas will all be on my mind. May end up just framing the lotto entry card. I want Pejac to get all the money he deserves but from the perspective of loving his art but not being loaded I wish the print was a run of 400 for 350 EURO's instead.

Pejac Show in Berlin - APNEA, by Auropelli on Oct 22, 2021 14:18:48 GMT 1, " so what NYC did not happen! Maybe there were difficulties in finding a suitable place without a gallery from the city." what does this mean? There are huge shows going on in NYC right now with big artists. All the events here are open and packed. If he can do it in Berlin he can do it in NYC. He's just not expanding his market outside of Europe and that is a big mistake. Also you guys are saying.... it's smart to fly from around Europe to Berlin but not to fly to the US which has more vaccinations? Right... Hey even NYC is giving tourist free vaccine shots.
When the Apnea Show was planned the rules to fly from Europe to the US didn't allowed any Tourist flights. If they had waited till that, they haven't been able to organize an Show in 2021. But as for sure many great shows will follow one of the next events will be in the US.
