www.bristol.gov.uk/ccm/content/press-releases/2009/jul/Banksy-Exhibition-late-night-openings.en
In a bid to accommodate even more visitors to the hugely successful and massively popular Banksy vs Bristol Museum exhibition at Bristol’s City Museum & Art Gallery, there will be special late night openings on Wednesday evenings - museum staff announced today.
The city council has arranged for the late night openings - up until 8pm - on Wednesdays, starting on Wednesday, August 5.
Museum staff have been overwhelmed with the fantastic response by the public to see the exhibition. Nearly 200,000 visitors have seen the exhibition since it opened on Saturday, June 13, 2009. The record-breaking visitor numbers has resulted in extra staff being taken on over the summer to help with front of house and in the galleries.
The Banksy vs Bristol Museum exhibition features over 100 works by Banksy, the world-renowned and notoriously elusive urban artist.
“We have introduced late night opening on Wednesday’s in a bid to meet the huge demand,” says Councillor Simon Cook, Bristol’s executive member for culture, sport and capital projects. “Naturally we are delighted with the thousands of visitors, but with waiting times at weekends of up to two to three hours we thought a late night opening would appeal especially to local people who work during the daytime.
“The Banksy vs Bristol Museum has surpassed all expectations and it’s absolutely brilliant to see so many people visiting our museum and galleries and enjoying a unique insight into the subtle humour and clever subversiveness of Banksy.”
· The Banksy vs Bristol Museum runs until Monday, August 31. Entry is free, the museum is open every day from 10am to 5pm (last entry at 4.30pm) - late night opening on Wednesdays, until 8pm (last entry at 7.30pm).

Banksy • Bristol Museum Posters, by optiknerve on Jul 24, 2009 13:57:25 GMT 1, Sorry if this has already been posted, but have just rung the museum and they are no longer taking telephone orders. If you want the posters, you need to send a cheque to 'The Museum Shop', made payable to 'Bristol City Council' for the full amount plus £5 postage including your name, address and telephone number.
All the postcard packs are gone and they are not getting more apparently!!
