Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Acme Thunderer on Feb 9, 2023 18:21:41 GMT 1, ama is on hirsts ig. he said there's no next level for the currency nft or something along those lines No surprise really. There was never a roadmap or any promises from day 1. The holders (dots) appear to have invented their own expectations.
They’ve got a nice jpeg and umbrella though, while I have a lovely Hirst original on my wall (and not an oversized poster).

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by atomone on Feb 9, 2023 18:22:12 GMT 1, HENI originally said it was a 5 year project and would benefit those who hung onto the NFT's but have to say that i'm glad I took the physical now after hearing the speech from DH. I guess the highlight was for those who got the studio visit at that time so that would be hard to top. I guess NFT holders will have some benefits with regards to early access for purchasing further releases from DH but who knows now

He doesn't need the money and he stated he kept them because it's a different medium for his art. Sounds like he's having fun with it. The fact is that no one knows what will happen in five years with the NFT market. It's been what seven months since the burn date? That's nothing in art collecting time.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by flingading on Feb 9, 2023 21:46:17 GMT 1, ama is on hirsts ig. he said there's no next level for the currency nft or something along those lines No surprise really. They’ve got a nice jpeg and umbrella though, while I have a lovely Hirst original on my wall (and not an oversized poster). Wow. It takes a certain type of knobhead to smugly revel in others misfortune. Sure the people who chose to stick with the NFT had the option to take a physical but it would have been nice if everyone came out on top.
I’ll take a leaf out of your book and choose to stick my boot in rather than be positive. You don’t have a Hirst original. You have an almost identical copy of a huge edition that’s the size of an envelope.
Actually that felt pretty good. I can see why you choose to be such a snide little weasel now.

The people who bought at £1500 can sell for more plus they have no end of freebies from Heni on the way. If you follow the Discord, you will see how unrealistic some of them have been. There is no revelling in misfortune either as plenty of people have made serious money. I bought and decided to keep the physical with the intention of making no profit. People who kept the NFT done it as a gamble and not much difference to placing a bet at the bookies.
How much did you sell your Currency for? Didn’t you want about £10k?

Bought my girlfriend some new boobs and spent the rest on other artists. Also didn’t feel the need at any stage to point out that the NFT owners were stuck with a JPEG and an umbrella and that I was better off than them. You do you though. If you love the Hirst then genuinely happy for you. That’s why we’re all here right.

They’ve had a little wobble as they don’t think they will get preferential treatment for a few months. You need to lighten up if you get offended by a jpeg and an umbrella.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Arty Farty 15 on Feb 9, 2023 23:12:59 GMT 1, It makes no sense though, why would he keep 1000 of his own as NFT's without any plan? He'd essentially be throwing them in the garbage if that was the case. He doesn't explicabbly state there's nothing in the pipeline. He’s got what he needed from it. He burnt 1000 of his own artworks and the press lapped it up - it was a PR stunt and that’s it. If he kept 1000 as physicals there would have been zero press interest.
Sour self entitled NFT holders need to move on and stop expecting the world. They have what they chose - an NFT and that’s that.

Sour self entitled NFT holders need to move on and stop expecting the world. They have what they chose - an NFT and that’s that. If you want to look at it from a PR standpoint, he also could have collected all 1000 as physicals and donated them to various charities as they stated they could be used for. Surely, the press would eat that up as well. Burning an extra 1000 physicals atop the 5500 already being burnt is a drop in the bucket of what was already making headlines. Silly to assume that there was distinction between who owned the artworks. "Damien Hirst burns 6500 original artworks, 1000 of which he personally owned as NFTs". Nonsense.
He holds more than 20% of the NFTs and is the only person who can influence their worth. He LOVES money. If he does nothing from here on out, then so be it. I'm not sour or self entitled, but all logic points to there being more to the project. Especially since they said that was just phase one.
Carry on being sour about literally everything on this forum.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by state on Feb 10, 2023 14:51:02 GMT 1, I disagree. There will be more to come. doubt this. Due to the low floor and low volume sales, royalties haven’t been cutting it. Would make more financial sense to leave this project behind as an antique and focus on new releases which generate millions in a day. My opinion at least 🤷♂️

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by robo on Feb 11, 2023 21:37:08 GMT 1, I watched the Hirst AMA and as an owner of the NFT (and the physical) I quite like what he said. I love the whole project. I enjoy the physicals which I’ll frame soon. Surprisingly I get to enjoy the NFTs more often as they come up on my TV screensaver. As Hirst said, the NFTs will one day be antiques - examples of a high profile early project using a once new technology. I don’t care about utility and I don’t want any more brollies. I just want to hold onto my physical and digital Currency and continue to enjoy them.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by elzerman on Feb 13, 2023 7:37:17 GMT 1, They’re going for £8-9k here on the forum, on auctions a bit more but sometimes not at all. I’m selling mine at Bukowskis (Bonham owned Scandinavian auction house) with an estimate of £ 8000-10.000 in April. It’s a special one with history as it’s the first tender to be used as a record cover (with Damien’s permission).
Make a WTB thread on here and I’m sure you’d find a seller! good luck!

I’m selling mine at Bukowskis (Bonham owned Scandinavian auction house) with an estimate of £ 8000-10.000 in April. It’s a special one with history as it’s the first tender to be used as a record cover (with Damien’s permission).
Make a WTB thread on here and I’m sure you’d find a seller! good luck!

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Jules Leotard on Mar 18, 2023 2:38:28 GMT 1, Didn't Heni's website used to have a marketplace where people could list their Heni works that they had previously purchased for resale and Heni acted as the broker? Is it still somewhere on their site and I am missing it or did they get out of the brokering resale business???
